ParticipantWelcome in JVSPhotos! I’d thought I’d mentioned about updating the rules page, but I guess I’m mistaken. Lots of nice, friendly people here, and now that you know, you can post the images larger next time!
To paraphrase some photography dude,
If it’s not big enough, you’re not close enough.
Regarding this week’s thread, I was hoping for more science fair type experiments. Although, now days, science fair experiments aren’t what they used to be. They’ve taken all the danger out of it. 🙁

ParticipantI added a Canon EF to 58mm female adapter to my models and ordered it. It’s gone to print and should arrive in about two more weeks.
http://shpws.me/gCoJ The purpose of this one is to test the bayonet mount dimensions and screw thread tolerances, and ultimately to allow using extension tubes and macro diopter filters to create a cheap long focal length lens, about 90 to 140mm.I’ve also created and uploaded a 58mm female to female coupler, in case you’ve already got a 58mm macro reversing ring. Now, only time will tell if they’re any good.

ParticipantI hate having ideas and no product.
Baking soda, vinegar, food coloring. Go!

ParticipantIf science didn’t need so damn much math, my life’s course may have been way different.
You could have majored in one of those fluffy sciences (like the ones that end in -ology) where they’re mostly concerned with naming things: biology, geology, zoology, cryptology, Egyptology, physiology, psychology, sociology, Farkology,… Ok, maybe not cryptology.

ParticipantFWIW – I never understood the Vancouver couple photo…
I’ll dumb it down for you:

I redesigned the whole thing. This is the most recent rendering. I have not uploaded it yet as I’m still working on removing unneeded volume to reduce the cost. Plus, I picked up some vernier calipers today at Harbor Freight to measure the bayonet flanges on the EF mount.Yoyo
ParticipantUm, when were these photos taken? I ask because everything there looks like it’s 30 to 40 years old.

ParticipantI was being clich?, not referring to any photos linked here.

ParticipantI love the tan on green color and how those colors are echoed in the background top left.

ParticipantLooks like you eat well! OK, except for that sugarbomb…
I hate eating alone, so I wind up doing fast food (like a subway or supermarket deli).
I didn’t drive all the way to Montana to eat at some place I can find in New Mexico. Besides, some times on vacation you just have to say “I’m going to dine like price is no object.” Plus, when I’m camping out in national forests for under $20 a night, the saving allow for splurging on a $50+ dinner.
I can’t recommend any of the restaurants in Yellowstone, but Glacier, Wharton Lakes, and Grand Teton have places that will make you feel like a Rockefeller, if only for the two hours from amuse bouche to chocolate. The park guide publication recommended reservations for the Mural Room in Grand Teton. I took the time to shower, shave, and put on fresh clothes (more appropriate for fine dining than the cargo shorts and flip-flops I was wearing most of the trip) before dinner and had no problem getting a booth.
Voodoo Donuts is a local Portland bakery with 2 locations. The downtown store always has a line out the door and down the block. Now the suburban location is getting that way too since the place has acquired national attention, e.g. I saw an article listing it as one of America’s top eateries (in the “comfort food” category maybe?) in an airline magazine.
When you’ve been a bachelor as long as I have, saying “table for one” happens without any qualms. Sure, I’d prefer to have a companion for dinner, but I’m shy, quirky, and have high standards. C’est la vie. (Although, I did meet a terribly attractive actress/producer/etc. at the local film festival this evening…)

ParticipantIt’s nice to know that I’m not the only person who takes pictures of food. I don’t usually post them to facebook, and certainly not quickly. Plus, I don’t use the 50mm lens. I just turn on the IS, brace my elbows on the table, and hope for the best. Also, I dine alone most of the time. (Farkettetographers are more than welcome to contact me at any time.)
