ParticipantIt’s not so hard when everything you shoot is awesome ;P
You just start coin flipping until you get to 3.

ParticipantIs anybody else having trouble picking 3 “best”?
I shoot so many different things, I just had to go with 3 really good ones of way different things. Besides, some of my best, I’ve used already.

ParticipantNeat!

ParticipantDammit. Forgot yesterday was Wednesday. I didn’t have anything ready, but I had a couple ideas from the archives. I usually get that stuff done after my wife goes to bed, but last night I crashed out early as well.
Oh well… time to get ready for the next one…

ParticipantThat’s why my wife has a Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel. She loves it, and we can haul the trailer anywhere now. The old truck couldn’t handle the Appalachians without trashing the transaxle (there was something tweaked about the housing that they just never figured out – the old truck was supposed to handle it fine.)

ParticipantMay I recommend a Jeep Wrangler? Make sure to get a soft top for those days when it’s not 20 and blizzarding. It is the single most fun vehicle I have ever driven. My only complaint would be I need louder speakers for when I do have the top down. The 4WD works great on the fly, has optional 4Low for when you are really stuck, and will fit in any neighborhood from East St. Louis to Beverly Hills.
I love my Wrangler more than any other car I have ever owned, and will own no other until I’m too old to climb up in one.

ParticipantNeat! We haven’t had a cool ice storm since I got my dSLR – not that’s I’m complaining, mind you… I’ve been cheering for global warming to reach my corner of the world for years, now.

ParticipantI just looked at “Middle of the Night 2” and saw the difficulty was “No sky shots” so let’s have this one be wide open but with “Normal” Farktography rules in play (stacking and other excessive post-processing verboten).
Is that cool with everyone?
If we don’t get 2 votes, it won’t matter anyway.

ParticipantI’m generally a big archive diver myself. Some of that is due to me being aware of hoppered contests, and when they finally come up, they’re deep in the archives, some due to only having access to certain things at certain times, and some due to generic laziness.
Some of it’s also due to the kind of photography I generally do. I don’t yet have studio space to work in, so I shoot more “in the world.”

ParticipantI suggested late June/early July due to the fact that it’s near the end of the school year and for some of us with kids or in the educational system, that’s a crazy time. But I’m usually good for planning ahead on my shots, so it doesn’t matter as much. I was thinking of others.

ParticipantIn the Themes thread for this contest you suggested it might be an annual contest like Season’s Greetings.
1) Do we already have a Year’s Best thread, or not?
2) If we do not, why not move this to the week after Season’s Greetings to minimize “OMG I forgot to shoot because of crazy holidays!”
3) If we do, then why cluster them all in late December and make this a Christmas in July type thing and offer it around July 4-ish coupled with a Patriotism or My Country ‘Tis of Thee theme 2-week annual tradition/urgency break? (End of school/graduation season can get screwy for those with kids or in the school system’s calendar grip).
I’m not suggesting moving this to June/July this time, just tossing it out there for consideration. (If we go with #2, I’d suggest moving it, however, because it’s only a 2 week delay, not 6 months.)

ParticipantIf it means keeping this in play and providing another wide open theme, making this anything night-time, but mandatory terrestrial based is fine with me.
I haven’t felt very inspired lately, so I’ve been trawling the old contests in Bibliostats to see what hasn’t happened in a while. I’m good either way.November 23, 2013 at 5:59 pm in reply to: Nighty-Night!(Classic:Night-time Photography4)[hoppered] #52493Yugoboy
ParticipantI guess I didn’t look at the hopper before submitting. I looked at past contests.
Everyone OK, if we just make that one “Classic 4” and dump this one?

ParticipantDo we want to change to and/or?
I, too, would like to be able to do just the instrument.
