ParticipantZ^0 and U, I quote Lois Lane, circa 1979 version, “If at all possible, he’ll be there.”
But I’m pretty much resigned to a ‘not happening’. Unless you happen to find a wallet, with a considerable chunk of change, that I misplaced/that got snatched/that I dropped on Memorial Day. Then I could at least rsvp.
Whilst at the local public library I happened to see a sign for free scanning in the media department. I have a scanner, so it didn’t really register as important until I re-viewed this thread.
I have no idea if anyplace else has this as an option. Several things would mitigate against it: a) it’s a Kodak scan station and we’re in the home of Kodak, and b) it’s a pretty big library (central library for a county-wide system of a several hundred thousand population), none of the smaller allied libraries have one.
But… if you’re dying to participate, it’s an idea to at least check out.

ParticipantOh… and this is the first contest I get to use images from my new rig and not the old Olympus Cammedia stuff from the archive!
Yay me!

ParticipantThanx lady!
(You are a lady, right? People get my buddy Parasitic_Spin confuzzled all the time… she’s a chick with a confusable name… so now I ask…)

ParticipantElsinore, you’re a Fark Mod, too, right?
Any chance (if it hasn’t been done already) you could turn on voting on my first entry?

I was so excited to actually find it before 11:00 when it goes green and there’s already 900 images that I forgot…This is all so new to me, still… I’m used to having a week or so and seeing 20 images or so…

ParticipantI’ve had this happen when I brought a camera out of air conditioning into a humid environment. The lens itself gets foggy. Is that possible?

ParticipantDiscussing captions with cat photos reminded me of this email I got a while back. Still cracks me up.
That’s from THIS GUY. The rest of his stuff will make you laugh just as hard.

ParticipantAs a control freak, the reason I have an SLR is so I can monkey with all the settings. I actually have to force myself to shoot on auto every once in a while to remember how to set that setting for sports and other higher speed activities.
That said, the Fuji’s a nice little tool. If my dad ever needs a new camera (I think he’s shooting with a nicer Kodak, but I’m not sure) I’ll show him this video. I certainly wouldn’t turn down a gift of one, either…

ParticipantQuery:
Are the post-shot processing rules still in play here? How much digital manipulation am I allowed on this one?
In all honesty, I just tried one, didn’t like the first go, so I did it again with a couple different background lighting sche,es and tried an HDR merge. Came out about as yucko as the original scan. Good idea with (likely) no chance at good resolution.
Back to the drawing board… (as it were)Yugoboy
ParticipantI guess I don’t visit the sections of the city interesting enough to have high-quality graffiti. I’ve been shooting my tail off over the last couple weeks, but have rarely come across any good graffiti besides some Sharpie scrawls on light poles (although one of my entries certainly looks to be graffiti, just not the spray-painted kind).
I’ve got a few shots I’m pretty pleased with, though. Looking forward to that contest.

ParticipantThanx. Got a nice one. Just tweaked it (didn’t need a lot, but you guys are tough competition!) and now I’ve got 2 (I think)

Rocks are “earth,” right?Water I got covered.
Fire may or may not get done (got some ideas, but time is fleeing fast)
For earth, however, I’ve only got one set if “earth” = mud/dirt and I’m not thrilled with it. Got a ton o’ rock shots, though…
As for air, I think I’m punting, ain’t got the deep archive yet.Yugoboy
ParticipantJust to be clear–you’re completely eligible to enter with any photos you’ve *taken* in the past year even if they weren’t *entered* in the past year. Glad to have you on board 🙂
Oh. Cool! I’ll see what I’ve got.

ParticipantWow! Lotsa love! Thanx!
I hear ya Elsinore… I’ll stay outta this one and just get ready for the ones I can get into…
(The cloud one looks like fun… my old cell phone took the most amazing cloud photos… odd, no?)

ParticipantHi…
I’m new here (but if you follow Fark PS Contests, I’m pretty familiar). Is this contest only for those who have entered between May 2010 and May 2011, or can I use ANY “favorite photo” I’ve taken?
I only entered a single contest several years ago, and have basically stuck to Photoshop. However, I was recently gifted a new Nikon for my birthday (in preparation for an upcoming vacation) and am interested in entering some contests. I’ve got a few I’ve taken that I like in the “learning a new camera” phase. Can I enter those, or should I just find a contest I’m better suited to?
FWIW, look for me in the Urban Art contest (I hope).
