I don’t know that it’s a “dirty” phase, nor do I think I spent more than 2 weeks in the HDR hole, but with all of the filters and processing power we already have with Photoshop, GIMP and the rest, when I want to do HDR, I want it thoroughly tone-mapped and obvious. I want the full craziness.

I wish I could do subtle, but it’s just not in my nature.

CISS, same here. I very seldom bracket exposure unless I’m really afraid of screwing things up so I didn’t have many to choose from. Plus the whole HDR experience made me feel kind of dirty.

I can’t imagine why. HDR’s just another tool in the toolbox.

    A) U-Man‘s back! (We’re all screwed now…)

    B) I had no idea so many people were going to be so subtle with their HDR… I like mine thick and obvious.

*sigh* — We’ve had nothing but rain since this one was announced. I have one in-camera HDR I took just to test it on the new camera. I’ll post to it to up the numbers 🙂

Same with the 2-wheelers last week (Grats Pope, loved the shot) — About the only two-wheelers I saw in all the rain was trash bins, and I didn’t think that would add much.

One thing you can do is look at the Hoppered Themes (look in the Themes forum) so you can be shooting for any of those when you are out and about. If I see something that relates to a hoppered contest, I’ll shoot it, even if it hasn’t been scheduled yet. That way I’m not in the position you’re in.

Dunno, but after what I just got for my work with Armored Theory, I’m definitely a pro (they apparently REALLY liked my work).

I’m not a “supporting myself with photography” pro, but I am a “my work has financial value” pro.

was on my short list. I’m glad I went with the ones I did.

    Halloween evocative is OK, yes?

i.e. cemetery, spooky moon & clouds, spiders, black cats, scarecrows, etc…

    How are mine?
I’ve got 2 snow storms in progress, one in the morning, one in the evening, and one calm day showing the result of a major snowfall.

Do I need 1 or 2 more? If one, please disenvotinate the one in the middle (due to my captions, getting rid of it would be confusing). If 2, disenvotinate the first one as well. The deer stay either way.

    Did I say that?

    Damn.

Back to the drawing board (or external hard drive, as the case may be)!

How different would it be if I took a wide-angle attachment and then cropped the top and bottom off my image. Not that I’m a fan of iPhone pics, but if that’s what he’s using and it’s a single exposure without HDR… why not?

I suppose if the pano function turned out a near-impossible picture, I’d feel differently but having watched how it works when my wife has used it, I don’t see a big deal. It’s limited to a reasonable arc, not like you can do 360-degrees.

But, I certainly won’t object if it’s disallowed, as I can’t do one with my Nikon without significant fish-eye type distortion.
