KeymasterOnce the number three, being the third number, be reached, then trippest thou thy Holy Shutter release towards thy subjects, who, being focused in your sight, shall be recorded.”
I still read that as three subjects, one image.
Hmmm it does use the plural for subjects…

ParticipantWith a nod to thinking outside of the box and a lean toward not getting somebody unnecessarily irritated and a nudge-nudge-know-what-I-mean for the shortened description field, I favor just letting them ride.

ParticipantWhoever said this was a good showing so far, I wholeheartedly agree! I love what’s shown up!

Participantolavf and orionid, I can’t tell you how close we were to having 3 versions of the holy hand grenade shot. I kinda wish I did it now because of the “meta-ness” of having 3 of them. 😆
Oh, and great job on those, both of you.

I’m actually kind of surprised there weren’t more….
and thanks. I’ve got to solder the crosses on the top, rather than use the hot glue I used last night, but they’re going on the tree next year 😀

ParticipantI have a nasty feeling I made the wrong choices this week. They were all archive shots, as I didn’t have anything taken for this theme that would be ready in time. That’s what made choosing so difficult.
Some B’s:

http://flic.kr/p/99SUTs

The last one is sort of the original of the “See no evil…” maxim.Any advice or comments would be welcome.

LOL that rocks….and now I want to do that!

ParticipantLeicaLens, I really like your first three B’s. The first B has really nice bokeh and that “awwww, how cute” factor. And I like how the colors pop in the umbrella B.
Not saying I don’t like your A’s (you are No Catchy Nickname on Fark, right?), but I’d definitely have used the first B as an A.

I took some silvery/pearl ornaments, popped the tops off, and crimped the metal loop to be about the width of the cross. Found the crosses (you can’t see them but there are loops at the tops of the crosses – they were in the necklace section – and small beads and ribbon with gilt edges at JoAnn’s.
Be liberal with the hot glue, though. most ornaments have frosting that will come off fairly easily, so more surface area will help the ribbon stick better. And yeah, you’ll want to solder/braze the crosses on because the wire loop doesn’t have quite enough surface area to hold the cross on were a cat to bump the tree or something. (I think material cost was around $10, and I could easily make more than a dozen of ’em for that)

Thanks for the feedback, CauseISaidSo
Yes, I am No Catchy Nickname on Fark. I couldn’t have spaces in my handle here, so I changed it completely.I was really torn over the first B, for the reasons you said. The only reason I didn’t include it was because the two adolescent macaques weren’t facing the camera. Hmmmm…

ParticipantRe Error‘s apple scan. As scan’s go, it’s really lovely. That being said, scanners don’t really take images the way a camera does, so I can see why there would be some hesitancy in allowing them. THAT having been said, some of the new i-phones and other fandangled new technologies employ this same method; I recall seeing in the forum here a picture (U-man’s? Not sure now) where it was all funky and skewed, which was a result of this technology ‘scrolling’ to capture an image. That technology probably isn’t going to go away.
I don’t have any answers to the question of validity, but as I said, thems is some lovely apples. I wouldn’t mind replicating the picture by taking a shot from underneath a glass pane using my Canon.

ParticipantThat’s not wholly true from my understanding. The mechanism is different but the effect is similar. Try setting a strobe up and taking a picture faster than the strobe fire some time. You’ll get a ‘partially exposed’ picture because of the way the sensor is read (in the Canons I believe it’s left-to-right if my memory serves). But I’ll agree that it could be considered a different ‘principle’, so therein lies the debate.
Personally, I’m really on the fence. But it’s late and I don’t think I can effectively offer my arguments for & against so I’ll have to pick it up tomorrow.
