ParticipantJust noticed the original Kittehs theme stated “No titles, descriptions, or captions in this thread, because the entries from this week’s theme will be available for captionshopping on Caturday.” We should probably do that again for this one.
I was hoping you wouldn’t notice that. It’s all good, though. I like it.
“Bigr at Flickr” doesn’t count as a caption, right?
I agree with all of the above. No captions please. Something like bigr at flickr is OK.
my 0.02.

Yeah “Bigr at Flickr” or the like is fine.
Do we need to specify that we would like/would not like our pictures in the Caturday thread?
This is really one of those rare contests (like the Photoshop crossovers) where if you don’t want your photo used, then you should sit this one out. If it’s in the thread, it’s fair game. If you wanted to ask in-thread for it not to be used, I guess you could, but there’s no guarantees, and quite likely someone would actually see that as a challenge to use it.
Question, I use flickr, what is a CC license?
CC stands for Creative Commons. It’s a way to tell people that you’re willing to let them use your creative work, and how you’re willing to let them use it. For example, you can specify that derivative works based on yours are ok (you’d want at least this much for the Caturday captionshop), or that your work can or cannot be sold by others, etc. If you go to your Flickr page on any photo, on the lower right is a section with (C) All rights reserved (if that’s what your acct defaults to, and it probably does unless you’ve changed it). You can edit that for the various CC licenses, and it should explain them when you click on it.

Maybe I’ll put something on one of mine like, “DO NOT USE THIS PHOTO! IF YOU DO I WILL PERSONALLY COME TO YOUR HOUSE AND KICK YOUR ASS! DON’T PUSH YOUR LUCK!” and see if it gets more of less votes. 🙂

KeymasterI think with that many words, it would count as a caption 😉

ParticipantTitles are the same as captions? If so, Kestrana please delete my title line when you post OBO.

ParticipantDiscussing captions with cat photos reminded me of this email I got a while back. Still cracks me up.

ParticipantDavid Thorne is seriously funny. And weird. And weird and funny.
I came across that site a number of years ago when the ‘spider drawing as payment’ made the internet rounds.

ParticipantThanks for link to the lulz. Laughing until I cried was just what I needed to purge my brain of this hellish day at work.

KeymasterI edited the Theme title just a bit (took off the Farktography Classic).
Also, we have seriously dangerous weather rolling our way this evening, and tomorrow is field day at my kids’ school and I’m helping with it (providing said dangerous weather doesn’t blow the school away). I may be in and out at best this evening, and after 7am in the morning, I won’t be around until tomorrow afternoon, so if you guys need something immediate like vote enabling, be sure to use Farkback. If it’s non-cat/off-theme stuff, I can get that when I’m back in the afternoon.

ParticipantCan I get an assist in deciding? I’ve whittled down to seven from about 45.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/orionid/5759864808/The last two are the same frame. I’m planning on using all 1100 pixels tall if the last one launches.
ETA: I’d use 2200 pixels, but it was already decided in a different contest that splitting images to beat pixel limits isn’t kosher.

ParticipantI’d go for bag cat, the fisheye shot, and long cat.
While we’re throwing out possible entries, anyone have any suggestions from this set – http://www.flickr.com/photos/guine/sets/72157622386003677/
