I’ve had outages before and it is frustrating when you can’t do anything but wait for the internet gods to give you their blessing to come back. I’m happy that it is back.

We’re already talking a couple options to bake in a way that if one account gets borked, we can fall back on an alternate plan and be back up much faster.

If I want the opinion of the internet gods, I’ll give it to them. 😈

Since you asked nicely, avatar uploads have been enabled. Go to the ‘profile’ button where you set your avatar before. There’s now a spot for you to upload your own graphic so long as its 100×100 and under 11k.

I haven’t really paid attention to those links before, but do you mean “View unread posts?” These are the links I see at the top of the forum index:

• Mark all forums read

If you’re not seeing these, make sure you’re logged in. I started poking around this morning and wondered why there weren’t any orange new post indicators when I finally realized that I’d been logged out overnight (I’m guessing Zeke was tweaking something).

Nope, that wasn’t me. The old site was configured to never log users out; I hadn’t gone looking for that option this go around. It’s changed now, so unless you explicitly log out, you’ll stay logged in.

So hey! Guess what everybody! I got me a job! Yes indeed, I’m now the first assistant to a fella named Mark Leonhard who’s one of the owners of Acme Photo Works in Highland Park, MI (www.acmephoto.com). I’m in like Flynn I tells ya. I got a key, and a security code and a little clicker thing to open the security gate and a company credit card and everything. On top of that I’ve got full and unfettered access to all the studio space and equipment I can handle. Needless to say the wife and I are stoked. This is shaping up to be a good year.

Cool, man.

So all your friends, and like, people you know from forums and stuff get deeply discounted studio time and equipment rentals, right? 🙂

Caffeine drip musta run dry. I was trying to shout out to monkeybort (J-Hole = Jackson Hole), but inadvertantly left out her name – either that or aliens abducted it. Sorry for any confusion.

And as for my little brother (the vote of confidence made my day, though), I hope to get him into it. But somehow as a college student, he managed to skip the course on wasting time online. I have to slowly drag him to the dark side.

He’s at UT, so I’m not going to be able to talk to him for a week without him gloating about their Rose Bowl win.. I was supporting USC just to break his ego. I’m such a bad brother. 🙄
