ParticipantI don’t mind it at all. However I must point out that the original seems more crisp and there is a lot of wasted negative space around around your main focus. Someone once said that God is in the details, get in there and show us what you see in it. You are a better photog than this shows. There is no excuse for having more than half the frame being wasted when it doesn’t lead the eye any place.
Sorry if I seemed harsh but you can and will do better. 😉

ParticipantUmmm
so
what exactly is a “Dokken”?
When a person gets together with a donkey they are said to be “Dokken it”
CaptainJim
ParticipantAbout as long as mine if I decided to do the Barenaked Ladies. 😛
I was going to say I’ll shoot mine if you shoot yours then I realized that you would be on the loosing end. I do have a little 2″ tall surfer figurine though.

ParticipantIf I pay tribute to The Butthole Surfers how long do you think my timeout will be?
CaptainJim
ParticipantI wouldn’t even know where to begin other than beer bribery. How is it that they got folded in, given forums, regulated times, etc and Farktography didn’t?
I’ve wondered that myself. There has been no photoshop contest that I know of that has the number of participants that we do.
On another note, Who did you get to model for your strawberry picture? She has an awesome nose.CaptainJim
ParticipantDoes this mean correction of dust is allowable, even if it’s a spot treatment? I’m guessing it does, but I just want to make sure before I break out the clone tool that’s otherwise not allowed.
Anytime that I shoot something with a sky or pure white in the background I get about 20 dust specks. And you know what, I get rid of then with the clone or healing brush. I know that the rules say not to but I hate dust and get rid of it anyway. With the amount of compression required to post in the contest no one would see the dust anyway but it is one of the first things I look for. That way I can just save the large file and not have to worry about it later. I really don’t think it gives any advantage to clean up an eight MB raw file a little before posting a 45 KB compressed JPG to the contest. As far as voting is concerned nobody would be able to notice if dust was in the original or not. If we were exhibiting 16×20 prints it would be different.
I think the rules are in place so we don’t alter the photograph in a more dramatic way. I’m not saying I’m right but that is the way I interpret things.CaptainJim
ParticipantAny idea what time this goes to the main page?
It hasn’t been marked for green yet.

ParticipantCaptainJim – that is priceless! Forget the contest: you’re this thread’s winner!
If that is true then I leave you with a Fark favorite “The Kiss”

I had to photoshop the camera so I won’t use it for a contest but it was fun to make

ParticipantOnly if Ken’s naked…
I have 3 Kens and 8 Barbies with every room ever put out after 1998.
I think “Pirate Ken” will take one for the team.CaptainJim
Participant*whew* – thought you were going to be going for maplethorpe there for a minute…
Great idea, Off to make a little whip.
CaptainJim
ParticipantIf anything, I think it’s too tame 😉

I was going for a David LaChapelle look without paying fof models. If my kid knew what I do with her Barbies at night she would faint.

ParticipantAnd now for the other side of my work:
That looks like an alien with a big peener and shaved pubes. I like it
