ParticipantYeah I would have voted for oddmind but no votey enabled. And I agree Elsinore there’s one of Yosemite I didn’t really think was cloudey enough but votings so hot and heavy I just shrugged and moved on.

Participant***Looks back at who suggested this theme***
***Looks back at last week, too***
***gets all squinty-eyed suspicious at people calling their shots***🙂 I got no problem with either of you. Just having fun.
If I recall, people were suspicious of the same thing when you started suggesting themes… 😉

ParticipantFWIW I’m okay with ennuipoet‘s image. Time for another patented “Kes Litmus Test”: Rather than “clouds are a majority of the image” maybe “are the clouds an integral part of the image”? For example: the presence or absence of the clouds wouldn’t change the focus, subject or tone of kat‘s picture but the presence or absence of clouds drastically changes ennuipoet‘s.
Or for another example: Say someone posted an image that was 75% empty blue sky but contained a single cloud with a vague resemblance to a squirrel with a pair of giant nuts. It’s only 25% cloud but I don’t think we would DQ it.

ParticipantMacro! We have both the 55-200 and the 70-300 and let me tell you I never use the 55-200 anymore unless for some reason orionid is using it and I want more zoom, but the focus element at 300 is either messed up or really soft focus. You pretty much have to manually focus between 270-300mm. I pretty much use the 18-105 or a macro lens although lately I’ve been pushing at myself to use more primes. We’re probably going to rent the 105mm Nikkor for Hawaii and can speak more to that then.

ParticipantI have a widescreen Samsung and yes I like it a lot. However I really don’t use my desktop much anymore.

ParticipantI think this issue has come up before and the consensus then was its not just “picture” but “frame #”. Thus you can’t recrop, recolor, stich, unstich, layer or unlayer a photo to call it new if it was used previously, no matter the context.
Using 2 different frames of the “same picture” is legal however.

ParticipantAww take the voting away, but keep my little bear up 🙂
Glad to see you back. I’ve been following your photostream on Flickr – it’s very inspiring.

ParticipantYeah understandably so. It happens sometimes but where it’s avoidable we avoid it. Although the Urban Art contest might cause some blood-letting over who gets to post our virtually identical pictures of graffiti depicting the abominable snowman eating penguins…

ParticipantYou probably shouldn’t both use shots from the Set in a contest, but even if you did I would vigorously argue that it was kosher.
.We actually try not to use shots from the same set/specific location/outing in any contest.
