ParticipantHaha that wouldn’t be fair to the people who have the day off (like me) or live in better time zones now would it?
But since you bring up book placement, I have a .pdf now of the layout that Drew, JoethePeacock and I have been working on and I will post a link to it sometime today.
Kestrana
ParticipantFigured I should mention now since the process is started, don’t panic if you don’t get an email or note from me today. I have 145 people whose contact info I have to track down and I’m starting with the farktography.net membership list and may not finish today.
Also some FAQs so far:
Yes you can scan the signature document and email it to me. Later versions of the email clarify this anyway.
Yes you can host your hi-res images somewhere and give me links to download. That is probably the easiest way to get the files.

ParticipantNo bribes here. I was actually pretty shocked when orionid woke me up on Sunday and told me I was a wiener.

ParticipantNow I feel bad for being happy about winning :/

ParticipantNo one has asked the obviously important question – did you go topless????????

ParticipantHere’s some examples of other people’s work that would fit this contest:

ParticipantIt’s possible to have a vertical landscape, such as a picture of a single mountain.
Kestrana
ParticipantThe picture should also be a landscape, so if you have a landscape picture and it features a fountain, knock yourself out.
For the inevitable question: landscape; (n.) 1. An expanse of scenery that can be seen in a single view: a desert landscape. 2. A picture depicting an expanse of scenery.
Kestrana
ParticipantNo, you don’t have to have an ocean or a lake in the picture. Just water that is a prominent feature of the landscape, whether it’s river, waterfall, glacier, swamp, pond, etc.
Kestrana
ParticipantIf your image is noisy then yes I would suggest reducing the size especially if it’s a black and white image. Printing will show more dust and noise than looking at it on the computer screen. Can you get 600 at 24″? That’s a good size for matting and public viewing without compromising the detail of the image.
Kestrana
ParticipantFor book publication 300 dpi is the minimum so it’s probably “enough” but if it’s a minimal cost to increase the dpi you’re probably only going to be better off.
Kestrana
ParticipantOk well I drew up the legal release in the time waiting for any further comments so I’m going to use the information already obtained, pick the last of the content and use the “All Time Highest Vote Evar” photographs for the non-chapter content pages.
Just waiting on Drew’s approval of the work so far and I will be in touch with pretty much everyone about licensing a picture (or a dozen).

Participantorionid is pronounced “hay-ewe”, or when talking to the cat “dah-dee”.
