ParticipantThat’s the bitter yellow stuff that comes in cans and bottles, right?
That’s what I thought, until I got married and the wife learnt me otherwise.
LeicaLens
ParticipantVery useful!
And slightly depressing at the same time.

ParticipantThough, I have to admit that I didn’t think I’d ever see a Miles Davis flamewar.
A Miles Davis flamewar? Wha…? How….?
Let me guess: someone actually came right out and said “On the Corner” is Davis’s best album?
Because them’s fighting words.LeicaLens
ParticipantWell done, rav!
Quarterly bonuses? That sounds tasty.
I finally got full-time work again after years of grad-school, freelancing and part-timing, and it’s the benefits that make it worthwhile. However, I made the fateful mistake of getting married almost straightaway,
so instead of being able to splurge on ridiculously overpriced lenses and cameras, I have to buy things such useless things as “a larger fridge” and “food”. 😥LeicaLens
ParticipantOurs are 8, 10, and 12, so right in the age bracket (at least mentally) of the average youtube poster.
Good grief, yes. Reading the average Youtube thread makes the Fark Politics tab look like a meeting of the Algonquin Round Table.

Participanthaha! nice crotch shot!
The family shot was happenstance. We bought the kids identical cameras (except for appropriate colors) for Solstice last summer, and were out on a weekend safari. I’d wandered down to a pond, and looked back and there were all these cameras pointing at me…
The girls mostly use theirs for amusingly inane youtube videos, but the older girl is starting to really take in interest. I’m hoping that holds.
The boy has an excellent eye, but he won’t experiment either. It’s weird. There was another she took of her Dad and her uncles (me and my other brother), except she pointed her camera waay off to one side and only got one of us in the frame. I think the camera was too big for her little hands. Her elder sister has a pretty good eye: she gets the subject in the frame at least. However, she prefers being photographed to photographing herself.
I thought about getting her a second-hand P&S for her birthday. I think she’s too young to be using youtube yet, though.LeicaLens
ParticipantBy the way, olavf, I liked your Farktographer’s Family shot. Reminded of my nieces when they get hold of my camera:

ParticipantHave a Seat it is then?
Tiny Spanish cars. 128mph tops. Meh.
Hot volleyball cheerleaders, though.
😉
No, we’ve combined “Fish” and “Seats” now, so it’s Fiats.
Tiny Italian cars. 128mph tops. Meh.
Except that Fiat owns Maserati and Ferarri and Alfa now… 😀
So my Dad’s wee Fiat is actually related to a Ferarri now?
We have a Ferarri! I have driven a Ferarri!!!!LeicaLens
ParticipantFor the most part, I work, and I take photos. And stare at Fark or whatever in the meantime. Or fix the umpteen computers in the house. The occasional dip in the hot tub when I’m not afraid of falling asleep in it is a nicety 😉
Apart from the computer part, pretty much that’s it for me too. Work doesn’t stress me that much. This week seems to be more of a hobby theme from the looks of it, which makes sense–hobbies are relaxation. I just didn’t really think of it like that before. Some good stuff, anyway.
Apart from the obvious photography stuff, I see we have lots of shooters, eaters, and travellers. And readers. Of Heinlein….LeicaLens
ParticipantI wasn’t sure if I would have anything for this contest as I have no idea what I do to relax (fairly stress-freee lifestyle). Still, I had a couple of last minute ideas, and I am glad I got to post in the end.
Themes like this always throw me, and I usually do lousy in them.Anyway, having had a look at the entires so far, I want to hang out with Kestrana someday. I will bring a couple of spare kidneys and a liver for the morning after. 😉

ParticipantThe second picture in the Prince of Wales set looks like Giant Beavers collaborated with humans to build a giant dam.

ParticipantHaven’t seen the whole site yet, but there’s some nice stuff there.
BTW, in her Black and White set, she’s got Dunkeld Abbey down as being in Ireland. I’m pretty sure it’s in Dunkeld, Perthshire, which is Scotland.
Jocks, Micks, they’re all the same….LeicaLens
Participantjust as well. the oldest i’ve used was in the “night time” contest and it was from ’75 or so. in fact all three of mine in that contest were from that time.
Yeah, I’m going to have to call BS on that one.
I mean, there’s no WAY people took pictures that long ago. What did they store the pictures on? Memory cards only came out in the Nineties.
/in 1975 I was still learning how not to poop in my pants
