Didn’t really have anything spectacular for this one (unlike Soosh‘s aurora shots he’s just put up. Wow!). It was a surprisingly difficult theme, I thought, in spite of all the green around us.
Some good entries, and quite a few that made me smile (I’m looking at you, olavf, and your green hard-hats.

    A few b-sides:

    You’re the MacGyver of Farktography!

Interesting effect it produces. Is there a light leak on the right, or is it a flare?

    Very cool, anyway.

Yeah, the forking forks are inspired. I am not sure whether I voted for the idea, the metalwork, the effort, the picture, or all of the above, but no mind.
Did you make spoooning spoons for the spoon contest?

    Well, it does split…

Honestly, I was looking more for the forking trees, roads, etc, but with the theme descript as it is, I suppose it would pass. BUT–do you think it will be envotenated by the teeming masses? I’m not so sure about that, esp. given the bulk of other entries.

Well, I have a split tree picture, and I figured there were a lot on the same subject this week, so for my last one I went for something different. I did have a photo of a split-end (hair), taken specially for this competition, but, Y’know, it just wasn’t exciting. Very macro, though.

I didn’t have much time to shoot for this comp, and the ones I took weren’t great (ran out of disposable chopsticks trying to capture my first entry), so I had to comb the archives 🙁

I took Geology of National Parks and Monuments to fulfill my third science requirement in college, but we didn’t study limestone specifically in great depths. I know it’s fossil bearing. Does that qualify me for a cookie? 😆

Hmph! Well, I suppose you deserve half a cookie for that.
I think we did limestone because there was that limestone pavement nearby.
It’s actually a beautiful part of Britain, and there’s a decent pub in nearby Malham village (and one OK one).

Also, Gordale Scar nearby is well worth a visit.

Would a picture of a limestone pavement count? You know, clints and grykes? Not sure about forking, but the clints are split by the grykes.

I’m so totally not understanding any of this, but if there’s splitting involved, it sounds like it would be fair game.

What? You mean you’ve never been taken on a geography field trip in the middle of winter to the top of the freezing Yorkshire Dales to look at limestone pavements and glacial erosion!?
    You haven’t lived!

I’m flying off to France in about 10 hours time, and I will be without internet access for at least a week, more likely a fortnight. When do you need the release forms and photographs?

(I have also replied to your PM, but I am not sure if you got it. So I will say it here again: thank you SO much for all the work you are putting in on this book. It is most appreciated and admired).

I only hope incendiary devices are fair game. If you can’t blow things up, what’s the point of living?

I would be interested to see how a would-be suicide bomber answers that question:

    “Hell, Yeah….Wait a minute…”

Sorry guys–went out with a friend tonight, and honestly, I’m not sure how I missed that photo earlier today. But it’s gone now.

Oh, well, aren’t you just the cool one?

From henceforth, your name shall be “Cucumber” 😉

Man, I was going to go out tomorrow and hunt for a chair or two – but that would just confuse me more.

Damn, you Americans…anything with four legs and you hunt it 😉

I’m going with lokisbong on this one. With noise reduction on, my Olympus takes the same amount of time to process the shot as the length of exposure. I am guessing your Canon is no different.

This discussion brings up an question, are people in or out for this contest? Since it hasn’t been stated I’m assuming it’s fine either way. U-Man can correct me if I’m wrong.

Surely people should be allowed for this one. I mean, sometimes who is sitting there defines the seat.
