Seems good to me, though we should definitely include the low light theme because that was my only top three finish.

I think it would be better to put more emphasis on the photos, and less on text, as I think any potential buyers are more likely to be buying for the images than explanations behind the shots and history of who we are.

Ballocks. I thought I had it. Flickr seems to have changed. Not sure how to post the picture directly in the thread.
Anyway, it was all black and white, trust me 😆

5% or less seems fair to me. Having been out and taken quite a lot of shots for this, I can say you can get pictures that fit the theme without having to desaturate.
Whether they are any good or not, well now that’s different question entirely.
    Example:

    Surely this fits the theme?

I’ve been out snapping like a snappy thing for this one, ‘specially as I missed last week’s.
Very challenging, but surprisingly good fun. I have been helped by the rainy season weather here: we have had nowt but grey skies for weeks, or at least that’s how it feels.

This has been a frustrating –but interesting– theme to shoot for. Looking at the LCD on the camera, a picture may look fine, but when seen close up and bigger on the computer, I find splashes of colour have crept in.
Damn you, green grass/trees, and red bits of metal.

The reaction seems to occur entirely toward “professional” cameras. If I stood on the street with a point and shoot, I don’t think I would see the same reaction. Same thing with the security types

I think there’s a lot of truth of in that. I read somewhere (maybe here), how people react differently to a big, modern AF zoom compared to an old-style, small MF lens. People don’t like having a bazooka pointed at them. I could take a photo on the street using my OM film camera with a small 135mm prime and no one would look twice. Take the same pic with a modern DSLR and (bigger) mid-range zoom, and people take notice of you. The bigger the camera, the more the reaction.
Seriously, if you want to do street photography, take something like a small digital compact. Everyone will just think you are a snap-happy tourist.

It’s very light. PM me your shipping address and I’ll see how expensive it would be to mail it.

    You have been PM’ed.
(Yes, I had too look that abbreviation up)

I live in Japan, where people aren’t generally too bothered about being photographed; in fact, most people are happy to pose, and seem to prefer that to sneaky shots.
Britain is a bit different, and I think the negative attitude towards photographers and photography is relatively recent. I am not sure whether it comes from “He must be a pervert” (I am, of course) or some sort of expectation of privacy in public. Odd really, when you consider the excessive number of CCTV cameras in the UK now. I think the internet is partly to blame. People may be concerned that their photo will be splashed across the internet in some way, which is sort of a valid concern.
But the guy ennuipoet encountered just sounded like a right wanker.

BTW I still have the Farkholga. thepostess never got back to me, so is anyone else interested in using it?

I am, actually, but that raises problems of shipping it overseas…
    I guess that’s out?

I knew of a girl called Emma Rhoyds. Her parents had a sense of humour.
We also had a teacher called Richard Head. However, he was a big rugby-playing bastard, so no one called him “Dick”. Not to his face, anyway.
