ParticipantX^0 (wait–that feels wrong…but is it right?); The B/W concert shot–thinking “All and all it’s just a
nuther brick in the wall”. Wished ya’d used.Copy the bee image and paste into any given photo manipulation program. Rotate image 180 degrees.
//saving for umop 3p!sdn, maybe.

Participant//there’s just a couple scarlet ‘r’s.
I’m impressed by the more ‘casual’ farktographer submissions. Tod_zilla is going to seize the day, I think–that is one sweet shot. And rsjohnson is coming in well with the Americana image, it’s his boobies. It’s a great example of why sometimes it’s okay to throw the rule-of-thirds out the window.
There’s 20 images that have 10 or more votes and it’s not even 10 hours into voting. *glee!*
ravnostic
ParticipantI jumped into the voting early. Would have been easier if there was a button ‘vote for all but these few’. Excellent shots, all!

ParticipantSilverstag; that streetlight is the ultimate in exposure perfection. I really like.
ravnostic
ParticipantDefinitely the ‘cropped small’ version, linguine. Like clouddancer‘s water colors, also.
The b’s (and the bees):

Hope the ‘a’s were the right choices!

ParticipantWow. These are really nice. I like that they look much like what you see when you visit such places–but can never quite capture in a photograph–except, of course, you did. Very subtle HDRing paid off here. The realism–and yet, the surrealism–is awesome.

ParticipantOpinions on any of the below, pour favor?
Thanks.
I like #4 the best. What the heck is that?
Thanks for the opines on mine, guys!

ParticipantI’d like not to ask, but I’m in a quandary about one of my photos. The session was ‘bees’, literally, and there were lots of good images. I’ve narrowed down to two, both bokeh examples. One is more ‘serious’, the other I’d want to caption with ‘Came for the burgers; got franks instead. Left dissappointed,’ Though I think it’s a good picture on it’s own, and a different take on the typical bee image we see, such as my first one. Or if I’m totally off base altogether, that, too.
Thoughts? Because there can bee only one…

ParticipantI aspire to things like this. Way cool.

ParticipantThanks for the brand info, also kudos on the slide design for holding them. right now, I’m considering screw-in with an empty filter ring.
Funny you mention that; I’m considering adding a lens ‘cap’ to do the same thing; only on front of the darlot. The slider stop needs a little tweeking; the center of the stop sits a little high in the bracket, leading to the not-quite-centered focal clarity in the images above (it’s a small fix, but I’m picky that way–should get to that tomorrow, if I’m good and don’t open a beer first tihing when I get out of work in the morning).
If I find a good snug plastic cap, I can then use both, which gives me (technically) 400 different combinations to choose from.

ParticipantWhy, it’s art! Can’t you tell?
//It’s actually controversial art; people either love it or hate it. It’s huge. It’s placed in an area with no relevance to it’s design. It caused a stir when they put it in place, but I think people have gotten used to it now.

ParticipantOrionid; did you mean ‘wall of floors’, as in the hotel shot (the orange things sticking out), or ‘wall of flowers’, with the bouganvillas?
For contest reasons, I like the stairs shot myself. And I wish we had an upcoming ‘what dreams may come’ as the effect would lend itself to those kind of shots. Tomorrow morning after work I’ll head out; this time I’ll try some of the other ‘plate’ stops. All of these were with a basic round shape. Testing at home, I found one that seems to lessen the blurring on the edges a bit, and I’d like to play with that some.
ravnostic
ParticipantExcellent scene chupa. Really very nice!
ravnostic
ParticipantI love that wall of flours.
And I hope you don’t mind, but I’m seriously considering ordering the same cookie press come june when we get back from our honeymoon.
By all means. It’s made by Norpro, $15 on Amazon. Model 3300.
//edit to add that I fixed the blockiness.
ravnostic
ParticipantI’m not sure if it’s just me, but the web images look very different here than when looking at them through Irfanview–almost blockish, esp. that first and second one. That’s not intentional–though I am reminded of the 1970’s Sears photo studio shots.
CISS, I wish I had more time for A.F. I did do some playing, I found what I think is the best ‘stop’ to even out the focal issues. The astigmatism will be addressed, as well (my aperture isn’t quite on the money yet, a little adjustment to make). But in truth–I kinda like the shots I’d already selected for ‘Artsy’. I’d have to take something really kewl to warrant a change. Today’s excursion didn’t allow that.
//came for the egrets. left disappointed.
