Awesome capture! The combination of ‘still’ and ‘movement’ in this shot is spectacular. *like*

But I saw that bridesmaid place coming two days ago. Jasihn’s shot light bulb was back around 15th or 20th place – but it was knifing through the competition. And rightfully so. It is a kick ass photo and fits the theme. 🙂

    Congrats Jasihn.

Ditto, noted the same thing when I was looking. I thought, “Okay, who’s going to be number two?” Contrats to Jasihn, and you U-man, and I’ll hope I can retain #3–it would only be my 2nd bronze, which would fit my small collection nicely.

//noted also Kashari closing in on me with her Desert Tower shot.

that won’t pay for your truck 🙂

checked my flickr stats. how depressing. one view from fark. oh well, no fame for me 🙁

Phuq the truck. Two weeks one way or the other won’t make a difference when my goal was August 31st. Artsy-Fartsy, however, is in a few days. Priorities. 😀

I can’t see it’s possible you don’t have but one view from Fark. But I haven’t read up on how flickr tracks such things. I have found for my own images, ‘click for bigger/better’ really doesn’t result in much traffic, in comparison to the views of the ‘original’ 640×1100 (whatever) image. It’s never been ‘one’–even when I didn’t get a single vote besides my own.

This was a 11-hole aperture. Rather than describe the placement of the holes, I’ll just post and state they are 4mm in diameter, and the center-to-center spacing is 1.3mm from center to outer.

The picture reflects the setup for this shot; I’ve been experimenting, and there’s a lot of difference in results dependent on the placement of the ‘waterhouse stop’ (that name really isn’t accurate, is it?). I tried upon the Darlot backside, as shown, and upon the T-mount adaptor, both of which leave something to be desired though the special effects are cool.

I’m building the PVC adapter interface housing now, and have placed the stop where it will be ~an inch from the body interface, and we’ll see where that leads. Any closer to the Darlot, and my focal length adjustments will be compromised.

If I’m not happy, I’ll rework it–that PVC part is 91 cents at Lowe’s, plus labor on my part, free. (And yes, I found someone to cover the OT shift so I can mess with this project for the next couple days.)

On the otherhand, Kes, if we leave room for a couple more, who knows what images we might take before then? I’m working on the Darlot Project and took this earlier today. Can’t say it’s anything special, I was just experimenting with different waterstop shapes and placements–though I like the unique focal point effect here; with much yet to explore, I might capture that winning shot in say, October.

Farktographer (and anyone else), I came across this the other day. Up to 35 entries in 5 different categories. I plan on entering some of my pictures, even though I don’t ‘plan’ on winning–you never know! Read the ‘Rules and Terms’ and FAQ’s; there are stipulations that you need to be able to meet if you enter.

2″ dia. Since the coupler that fits the Darlot and the t-mount adapter is 2-3/8″ (interior), I’ll need some sort of housing for the edge. I’m thinking of laminating them, then adding a thin black felt strip around the edge to prevent unwanted light leaks. They should, when completed, just slide into the slit I cut.

Well damn! I had no idea I’d get my cookie press today! I figured next week, at the earliest. So instead, I picked up an additional OT shift–which now I DON’T want to work as I’d rather work on completing the Darlot Project!

But…look at all the interesting shapes I’ll have to work with… 😀

Can I be pencilled in for June 20th? I trust it won’t be -40 degrees then? 😉

    …no offense, U-Man; you got a vote, too…

Definitely none taken. I consider it a ‘great minds think alike’ thing. 🙂

I was running through the entries last night when my 4-year-old walked up behind me. She said, “Ooooo. I like that pink one Daddy” in reference to your glass blocks. She then spouted off several beautiful childish comments about the pic. I wanted to record them but didn’t, and now they are completely lost. They were good though! And cute.

Impressing a child is among the highest praise–thank her for me!

Zero It’s the desert–you don’t phuquith hydration. Could be over 100, though not too terribly likely. 90’s, nearly for sure. My aunt and I hope so, as well.

Plama, the ‘guide’ says plan 3 hours from Tucson. It’s 2 hours from Phoenix, so coming up here to save an hour down there isn’t sensible. But, if you can roust yourself out of bed early, packed and ready to go and be there on time, I’d love to have you along.

There are LOTS of good pictures this week, some really nice stuff. That being said, I swear that my instincts for posting are 180 degrees off. The Glass Block shot was a last-minute photo session result; posted as the best of what I’d taken on the venture (and not a long venture–maybe an hour.) I liked, but not overly so. The Amber Orb shot session was well over an hour in itself, focused exclusively on the bulb (and it’s brother, in some), and I picked my favorite (or 2nd favorite; jury’s still out) and thought it would be the run-away ‘hit’ of my 3 entries.

And of course…my “well I guess this is the best of what I can use” shot is competing with U-Man’s most excellent wine glass shot (!), and my personal favorite, while gaining ground, is my least voted upon entry.

Is Amazon selling the “Voters, for dummies” book yet? Because I need to read it to figure out why my instincts have been outsourced and why my own opinion on my entries is always so juxtaposed with the voters.

markie_farkie‘s church shot is the bomb. bucky, I voted for your wine glasses, too–in some contexts, I like them better (no offense, U-Man; you got a vote, too)(also BISS‘s glasses); orionid‘s carved glass shot is fantastic, and plamadude‘s 2 foot lens could be a Lady Gaga costume. A bunch of others, too.
