ParticipantI like the idea of a photography related charity, so I’ll vote for NILMDTS.

Participant//facepalm!
I had the thought coming into work that I live a scant 20 miles from the “Allison Rd.” that the Gin Blossoms sang about.
Doh!
//of course, there’s a casino there now…

ParticipantYou’re correct in that I’ve never been to Tuscon. Or anywhere desert southwest for that matter. And a quick flickr search for tuscon reveals alot of blah, but burried within that blah appears to be a dirty, gritty city begging to be shot in black and white by someone with a keen eye.
We’ll see what I can do, if I havta do it, orionid
//but seriously, I’d rather not hafta.
///If I could get some good people shots, without getting accosted, it might be worth it. Weird people. Like in a John Waters movie. They’re everywhere down there. Capturing that would be worth the trip.
Given the right travel guides, you’d love the desert sw. It’s a much different way of looking at landscapes, big or small. The devil, in the desert, is in the details.

Participantdid not include the lion exhibit for my chance at ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’
best flash animation of that song you will ever see.
Yep. I’m pretty sure you’re right. That was great! I even recognized everyone, which is pretty good considering how often I frequent all things fark but not tography.
Anywho, I mentioned some beez.
Well, a b.

That’s Blerticus, impromptu lion stand-in. There’s several versions, I played with the lighting quite a bit to see how it changed the composition. I did the same with my ‘Crying’ shot.
Which, BTW, is doing okay, but I’d like to hear opinions and critiques on the shot, as I haven’t delved much into close up portraiture type shots. It’s hard to get willing vict–err, subjects; seems I’m the only one.

ParticipantTake pictures with one focal length in Tuscon.
Clearly, you’ve never been to Tucson. There are nice places to photograph in the areas surrounding, but not so much within. I’d be within.
//But yes, I’ll take my camera even to Tucson, if that’s the way the wind blows (and it will blow, and hard, if I havta go.)

ParticipantJust catching up. I guess I’m okay to use shots on different expeditions, so long as they are taken when I was using just one focal length. ?
This doesn’t make much difference to me; as I don’t have a prime, the only time I go shooting as if I did is with the telescope where I haven’t a choice, and other than the obig. lunar shots, which are nice, but *yawn*, I don’t think I have one worth posting (for this contest, at least.)
I’ll have to make weekend expeditions for fresh material. If I don’t get roped into going to Tucson (again, *yawn*], I’ll plan to head up north, kill a couple birds with one stone for Winter II and Season’s Greetings, perhaps.

ParticipantThere’s a woot-off going on right now….I’ma watchin…

Participantde Selb wrote “Call me a wet blanket, but normally these farktography contests are full of excellent photographs.
Normally.”
Well, how rude! This was a most challenging contest and I think everyone’s done rather well at getting the shots. Party pooper.

ParticipantThanks for the tips!
And yeah, that does seem kinda pricey for 5-10 minutes of smoke. I wonder if dry ice would work?
I had some opportunity to work with dry ice and my camera, results were less than spectacular.

ParticipantI have one ‘b’, but I didn’t load it into my hosting acct before I came to work. 🙁
Maybe I’ll post it in the a.m. when I get home. It was hard enough coming up with songs/albums I could make work, so I really only had 4 image themes to work with, one of which didn’t work because the zoo, while open at night for ‘Zoo Lights’, did not include the lion exhibit for my chance at ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight’ (my ‘b’ is my cat as a mock lion–but it is a good shot.)

ParticipantHey, I didn’t write the series, I just followed it in syndication…

Participantisn’t there something that neutralizes it/them? or maybe my fuzzy memory is about another chemical.
I believe you have your metaphors mixed up and are thinking about ‘synthohol’, from Star Trek, in which you never get drunk. 😆
ravnostic
ParticipantWell, I mean jeez, if I have to work for it, I may or I may not, but if you’re going to give it away for free…
This chub’s for you?
Warning:
Slight gross out factor may be implied below.
But it’s strangely appropriate to the theme.
How can you have any pudding if you don’t eat your meat?

ParticipantI knew you would chime in, rav. 🙂

ParticipantGreat…. One little typo sounded good for a while, got better with margaritas, and now apparently there’s an epic dong that can be shared on both coasts.
Far out.
Just keeps getting better, from my window. 😆
