ParticipantWas it Jay or Dave that did the “Stupid Criminals” bit? This is perfect fodder.

ParticipantI’m getting an error with that link saying that the file doesn’t exist.
Oops. My bad.

(18, not 15.) Theoretically this should work, but I’m at work and while I can log into my FTP via explorer, I cannot download the file here to verify. But that is the correct location.

ParticipantSurprising that in today’s technical age someone would be so bold, when it’s pretty easy to discover this sort of thing. What’s that website where you can put in an image and it will come back with all the places on the web where that same image can be found?

Participantennui I thought about this, too. FWIW, I came to the conclusion that environmentally ‘green’ was neo-green, rather than ‘classic’ green. Which isn’t to say I’m going with old green things (though I did snap some shots of my dad’s 1955 Holiday 98 Olds, which is green, JIC).

ParticipantA fine eye, Choc, on the crooked; I rotated to align to the column on the left. Since playing with jpg kills quality, how about a look at the original RAW image:

Hope you can view Canon RAW!!

ParticipantVery nice–congrats!

Participantcloud, compliments mean something from anybody, so thank you!
curiousAgreed on the column (but not much I could do; perhaps crop out from the top of the column?)
#3 I left in the bottom specifically because of the circular brickwork, though I do have a version without it:

I can gamma out the blowout well enough, but lose some of details elsewhere. HDR would be perfect for the shot.
Thanks for the input!

Participantcongrats O, on both counts!

Participantgratzie, chupa! Sucks to be dense…

Participant“FTW”? The only ftw I know is ” ‘fark’ the what”. Yes? No? I haven’t seen “World Builder” either. I live in a cardboard box.

ParticipantThe final version of The Bastid(TM) after a long 28 hours in NYC
Don’t you mean 28 long dollars? I read the rail ticket. {I actually picked it up as a souvenir after you left it behind.}
/turns. Stalks away.
Kidding.
/not kidding.
All kidding {or not. kidding.} aside, do you process your own film or take it somewhere? How did you determine, and then set, an exposure time suitable for each image with something like this? Where was Kestrana during these moments? (I didn’t see her through my binoculars at all…) Or were these the dog-house hours spent after stinking up the geek-room with forktography odors?

Participant…thus answering the question, “Where does he get such fabulous toys?”
You’re Batman.

ParticipantIf it’s any consolation at all, the votes I get are almost invariably opposite to what I’d expect (the one I expect to get highest is lowest, the one I expect to be lowest is highest, etc.)
My thoughts exactly. Anyone else feel this way?

ParticipantOn a side note, my rail line pic is set to be my highest finish yet. I didn’t think it was that good, I thought my other entry would do better. Oh well, ‘I may not know a lot about art but, I know what I like’
I voted for that one. It reminded me of the shot I wasn’t able to capture in Springfield Mo (or the one I imagined, at least.) I’m glad someone got an image I had wanted to capture at least.
As for the votes, nothing I ever think will do well does, and the ones I practically didn’t submit are the ones that do best. I should just start posting the pictures I don’t like… 😀
I’m hoping I’ll do better in Classic Green. I at least got the colors picked out correctly.

Participant…
and whether or not this project was flawed from the beginning.
Of course the project has flaws. The finest diamonds in the world, to the one, have flaws. It’s through the flaws that we can say ‘Aha! It’s this particular diamond I’m looking at!’ And as it was stated previously, there was plenty of time to contribute ideas, debate ensued, decisions were made, and that’s just the way it is.
I’ve reviewed book as it is thus far, and I find it *fabulous* {and as a homo, can I really give it any higher compliment? 2 snaps up, maybe? I digress…}
As for ‘Elsinore and Friends’, well let me check my tally sheet…
[*flips pages; says ‘uh-uh….herm…ahyah‘; recalls actions, lets mind drift aimlessly; picks nose, contemplates photographing it–decides against it, feeds to cat instead; stares blankly at screen and is reminded he had a coherent thought at one point and decides to get back on topic*]
I believe I’ve stalked Kestrana’s man, to ill effect (mine, at least), dreadfully (and unknowingly at the time but still) insulted U-Man’s mother, ranted at U-Man himself AND Elsinore (the last at least twice), and generally made a social idiot of myself for the past 6 months, which isn’t unusual for me but often works to my detriment when trying to play along well with others, especially those whom I don’t know.
And yet I have two pictures in the book. One of them wasn’t even a top 5.
Have them stick that in their pipe, and smoke it.
p.s.–did I ever sober up and apologize to those I offended, and have I further offended and pissed off anyone else I should know about? Really, I just suck at the interpersonal interaction gig. I’m really a fungi, once you get to know me.
