Participantzincp, I had the opposite reaction–seemed like darned near anything was okay. But I’ve picked, I’ve scratchpaded, I’m now committed, for good or bad. The one I like will probably fail, the one I think will fail will probably do okay, and the one I’m just posting ‘because’ will surprise me. All is normal with the world…

ParticipantCrap. Only a week away? Since I suggested this, I guess I’d better get shooting…

Participantcd I like the first two, but agree with olavf on 3&4 (and ‘just my opinion’, also)
ravnostic
ParticipantSent, along with other needed documents; let me know if I’ve forgotten anything.

ParticipantOh, one more, maybe for ‘The camera made me do it’. I had to pee. This was the west-facing wall near sunset that sheltered the bathrooms. I thought it looked cool. My aunt? She thought I was nuts.

ParticipantTo hell with the glasses (it’s an awesome shot), that night shot pic with the dock and stars is unfantasicabeliebable!! (I’m totally in awe. When’s the contest?)
Nice touch with the B/W. Have you tried to sepiate it?
I saw a few things on my road trip…now I have to reconsider, given the above, despite…oh, phuqit.
We need to have more contests. I have too many pictures.

ParticipantYeah, Olavf I agree; I’ll have some work to do; probably won’t be a full pano, maybe 90 deg., to get a big enough fow. I’m working on Meteor Crater now, though. Should be a bit better; I did a better job with the tripod for that one.

ParticipantThanks all–I think olavf got me taken care of. I still need to play with it; I only tweeked about 1/2, but I’m on the right track. Example one (huge file, 18 meg):

ParticipantI have a Canon–there’s photostitch in there? Holy phuqin chit, Batman–there’s photostitch in there! I’ll give that a try. I’ll try hugin if that don’ work. I took 1500 pictures (quite literally). There are a great many good ones, a few greats, as well (more than I’da thunk.) But if I can get these panoram’s in the bag…I’ll die a happy man. Or at least belt a few down and be a happy drunk.

ParticipantWith all this discussion, I keep thinking more and more photos will fit. I think I’ll stick with what I’ve got on the roulette wheel already. I’ll have an anny ur izzm if I add any more choices. 😉
(In truth, I think only one will be a contender, but then you really never can tell with these contests.)

ParticipantHey the photo I submitted that was the basis for me suggesting the contest got 3 votes so, yeah. Shit happens.
Actually, Kes, it got 9. But point well taken–I sometimes go with the one I like the best, the one I kinda like, and the one I figure won’t do well–and the last often gets the most votes (and the one I like best hardly ever does.)

ParticipantOh, I see. Fark handle’s fine (same as here; I better use my website for photography by then), titles see above or none at all, bio yes and it’s pending, and email yes and you have it. (rav at ravnostic dot etc.) night!

Participant“Choice selection”? I’ve looked around the recent book related entries and the form, and didn’t find what this references. Do you mean captions for the photos?
If so, then mine would be 8 moons of Saturn: While it’s ring plane was nearly parallel to Earth, 8 moons appear in alignment. The dimmest, Mimos, is barely visible immediately to the left of the planet.
Change that to ‘7 moons’ if in the final picture it’s not discernible.
I guess the other can just be called “P.O. Box 118”.
If you mean something else, please clarify. I’d do some more, but this 13 hour on the road each day sheeat is sucking balls, and not in a good way. I’ll be home (and on ‘vacation’ recovering Wednesday.)

ParticipantDoing better than I. Traveling from Michigan to Az via car this weekend. I have a shot of Chi from 30K feet (I flew up), and what I’m told is a grass hopper, but not one like I’ve ever seen in Az. And it’s certainly not as good as yours (it’s on a yellow berm at a gas station.)
So far: FAIL. Did make a nice pano of a lake scene at night, though.

ParticipantI’m glad to read some of the other comments; it’s makes me feel my selections are more on topic. Regarding U-man‘s “Probably, as long as the camera made you do it”, I have that in spades. Don’t know if it’ll play well, but it’s a macro of the pages of a yellow pages phone book left outside in the monsoon elements all summer long. Why? Because I thought at the time ‘I bet if this thing got wet and dry enough times the pages would get all funky and I could make it work in a picture somehow.?’
Don’t know how well it works; but it’s definitely the camera that made me do it.
