Participantyou could probably do that and get away with it.
just a thought, you can buy adapters for manual focus lenses to fit on your EOS mount for cheap, that work really well. I currently have screwmount, Contax/Yashica, Minolta manual focus, and a few others. Manual-focus macro lenses can be found for cheap. If you really want to get crazy, you can get an old macro bellows, mount it to your camera with a screwmount adapter, then mount a lens, macro or not, to the front of the bellows. I have done this with enlarger lenses to great success. The below were taken with a setup like that.

or if you have a lens in the 85-200mm range, preferably a prime, try using a reversing ring to mount your 28mm backwards on it. that’ll get you in really close. these were taken with that kind of setup.

ParticipantI’ve been thinking about having my 20D converted to IR. hmm.
For a reasonably affordable semi-long fast prime, take a look at a used 200mm f/2.8L. I bought one this past fall from Japan for around $600. Good god, that thing is a joy to use.

ParticipantI think it’d be cool to have votes for things like “most technically amazing” “most aethetically pleasing” and “best overall” but I’m not holding my breath or anything.
A return to the one-vote system would be my preference of likely scenarios.

Participantgood luck lokisbong.
on a personal note i got nothing for tonight. my stats must be totally screwed by now but i ceased to care. and am a better person for it. 🙂
definitely good luck to you, loki. If I had the money to lend you to keep you outta jail, I’d do it, but I’ve got $10 to last me a week.
If I’d known taking a few months off would screw me outta the FSM’s active lists, I probably wouldn’t have done it. I’ve got one for tonight, maybe more after work, maybe not.

ParticipantYeah I am still at a loss for this one. Every time I open a book around here the first line I see is dwarves fighting monsters Or some scifi line I have no idea how to translate to pictures. Or people on horses and there are none around here that I have found in at least 6 months and they were not being ridden. I really should have done this a long time ago and gone to the library nut the last three times I went by the library it was closed. DOH!
Circus peanuts & peeps, man.

ParticipantI’ve got one similar to that, given to me by my grandmother. It has apertures of f-11 to f-32.

ParticipantI can’t stand the recent versions of Ubuntu or Mint. I’ve been using Mint 10 now for a while and consider it to be a pretty good ubuntu-based distro.

ParticipantI’m really wanting the 35mm f/1.4 now.
So did I until they said they were releasing a 24/1.4 in a few weeks. MMmmmm…..
hmm. I’ve already got a sigma 20mm f/1.8 that’s crazy good for night shots. I still want the 35mm length in f/1.4.

Participantwow, those long exposures really make for a fantasy sky. Hard to pick a favorite.
Was that fisheye one of these, by any chance? They’re sold under several brand names…neat thing about them is that they’re marketed as EF-S, but function on EF mounts…
that’s the very one.
I’m really wanting the 35mm f/1.4 now.

ParticipantBy any chance, did you get the 85mm or 800mm?
I did get the 85mm f/1.4. It’s pretty awesome.
