ParticipantI ended up with only one entry for this one. I realized that other people would be doing everything on the famous images continuum. Images I considered and rejected:
… C’est la Vie.I’ve got one more to add, provided I can get some daylight in the next day or three, just for fun.
There was one more… but we don’t have any slatted chairs (Kat would have had to enter that one though 😉 )
oh man. that definitely sounds like a job for circus peanuts.

ParticipantI had no ideas for this contest until yesterday. On the way home tonight I heard a song that gave me another idea. So I came home and dug out my grandsons Disney figurines and went to work…
You have Grandkids??
I guess I never really thought about our relative ages on here.
Next summer, I’m combing garage sales for Fisher Price characters/GI Joes, etc.
*I* have grandkids. 11 of them if you count by marriage, 8 if you count blood.
and you look like a grandfather, in a I’ve lived long enough to earn it kind of way.
I’m looking forward to those days, I just don’t want my kids to get me there prematurely.

ParticipantI’ve got one more to enter, but it’ll have to wait until I get off work and go find some place remote.

I’m only 43. Grandson is 4. We started the kid thing early. My youngest is 18.
aaaaah, ok that makes more sense. I’m 40, have kids 10 and 13. grandparents are what my parents are. 😮

ParticipantYeah ambient light definitely won out over my lovely acetone flames, unfortunately. I had gasoline, but didn’t think to use it.
Lunchmeat Tienamen Square would be hilarious.
/amazingly enough I stayed away from bug and Barbie porn.
Ken Goatse/Barbie Tubgirl probably wouldn’t be allowed, would it?
I don’t know how much you paid for acetone, but you can buy it by the gallon at home depot for like $4. I keep it around to keep certain, umm, smoking devices nice and clean. And also for setting things on fire.

Participantdude! thank you!

ParticipantI’ve got acetone, but I’m going to mix in some motor oil to create more smoke. Acetone is what I used in the Reptile contest, so you may have had problems with too much ambient light, as you probably weren’t doing your peeps at the back of your garage on top of the washing machine where I did my godzilla thing.

also, that bowl was mostly full of acetone.
I was gonna do this one with a circus peanut, but I really didn’t have a good toy gun and I just couldn’t pull off what I thought looked enough like an image that I started thinking might not be all that iconic anymore.

and then I thought of doing Tienanmen Square in entirely lunchmeat or perhaps steaks, but was short on cash this week, so that will have to wait until another week.

ParticipantGo for it, is my thinking. I’m going to have an entry tonight, maybe, that features it, but I hardly have a copyright on the image.

ParticipantSelf-improvement is key. On my own, I wouldn’t have tried half the stuff I’ve entered here, and I’m a better photographer for it. And some of my absolute favorite photos I’ve taken are ones that I wouldn’t have taken if it weren’t for the themes here. I hate it when, like last week, I am sick or otherwise busy and can’t get to the ideas I was thinking about.
I’m going to have to wait until an hour after the contest today starts to even begin shooting one of my ideas, but that’s ok, as my TF subscription expired a few days ago and I’m broke for a week so I can’t post anything until it goes green tonight at 8pm my time.

Participanttomorrow on my lunch break, I gotta find somewhere I can set a concrete buddha ablaze.

ParticipantI don’t know that that’s twisting the rule too hard. I mean hell, I’m using circus peanuts to recreate a presidential assassination.
Yeah but something about “illegally” photoshopping a photo and then taking a pic of that seems slimy to me. To take it to an extreme, I could google a famous photo, print it, photograph the print and then call it mine. Doesn’t work.
What you have planned is, in my opinion, completely different. I’m looking forward to this theme. I hope yours are as good as the sword-swallower or fire-eater guy from “See you at the fair.” 🙂
I was thinking more along the lines of printing out one of warhol’s soup cans, pasting that onto an actual can, and then photographing that being obviously three-dimensional. I think that would be kind of cool. But maybe not within the confines of this contest.

ParticipantI’m not teasing you at all. And I’ve got a scale model of the Kennedy death car all ready to go. I’ve just got to figure out how much blasted circus peanut head I can feature without getting my image pulled. I’m figuring hamburger meat = too far, but maybe a bit of melted spice drop would be ok. or perhaps cotton wool with some fingernail polish on it.

Participantthat’d be perfect, and no rush.
