Is the FSM tango-uniform for anyone else? I just tried to load my portfolio page to look at my entries and it’s not loading very well at all.

Yeah, my intent with the contest was a close look at whatever, not pictures of tiny things necessarily.

I think it should be a previous entry, non-cropped. Resized would be fine.

I dunno. I’ve become accustomed to huge drives living up here. I’ve driven 800 and 600 miles just to go see one remote thing. But I doubt I’d go further north than Prince Rupert.

I’ve been to Victoria a couple of times, and may head back there. I’d really love to find any kind of ruins that I can.

    VW camper van!?!

I’m flying down with my kids for a couple of days of skate park exploration in Seattle and Vancouver, then I drop them off for seven days & nights of summer snowboard camp at Whistler, and I get the camper all to myself for whatever I want to do. I went to Butchart Gardens as a teenager, and while I liked it, I doubt I’ll go back. I’m much more likely to find a bit of forest to wander off into than something so organized. I will be spending several days in the depths of Vancouver’s Chinatown, which I believe is bigger and older than Victoria’s, but if that’s not the case, I may go to Victoria. I’m trying to decide between going to the outer coast of Vancouver Island or heading into the interior of BC. At the moment, I’m leaning towards the interior, since I live on the coast. After camp, we have a day at the beach in Vancouver/White Rock, and then a day in Seattle, and home.

How about the area captured by the camera should be less than 2″/5cm on a side?

That is what I’m trying to get across.

Oh yeah, is there anywhere I should stop by between LA and Chicago in the middle of summer when it’s ridiculously hot everywhere?

    Corn Palace

or, if you’re passing through Oklahoma, Big Blue Whale and World’s Largest Ce-ment Totem Pole

Not necessarily, I don’t think. If you want to take a 2 inch (or smaller) detail of the veins in a huge leaf. that would be fine.

you know, maybe that difficulty needs to be cleaned up. taking a macro photo of a leaf that’s part of a plant that is larger than 2″ should be ok. somehow it needs to be worded that the frame can capture no more than 2″ of a subject.

my first experience with acetone was using it as a solvent for fiberglass work. it is one hell of a solvent.

I like your monk. And the one of your wife and kids is just incredible.

I’ve gone back and forth with my monk, whether to use B&W or color.

    Here’s my monk in b&w

too much got lost, I thought.

I also had a problem where the acetone would evaporate very quickly off the concrete statue. I hadn’t thought about that occuring. I should have brought a pan to set him him to hold the fuel.
