They don’t allow cameras in both clubs I checked at.
Maybe I should move to a nicer area.

Wow, I had one of those years ago… fixed f/8, right?

Nope, it’s f/6.3 ~ f/32, and assuming you have really steady hands you can choose anything at all in between.

I’m pretty sure I put it back together wrong, the closest I could focus was a heck of a lot further than the 8′ listed. That, and I could focus past the moon. 400mm is pretty far and all, but I don’t think I’ll be shooting too much that’s further than the moon.

If any detail was lost in going to 1500×1000, I can’t see it.
It’s not as stunning as I was hoping, hopefully because I messed up reassembly some how.
The good news is that it probably makes a halfway decent baseball bat.

a year and 5 days.. makes this ther longest running thread i’ve started..

    how you doing stapler?

I think it’s the 2nd longest running thread in farktography history (after the farkamera).

I’m a little busier than I like, but I’m doing pretty good. I just picked up a 400mm Spiratone which is a heck of a lot nicer than I expected.

I haven’t seen you around much lately, anything new?

Don’t forget Pentax has a few great DSLRs for under $600 too (even under $500 if you shop around, under $400 if you don’t mind used).
Built in shake reduction is nothing to sneeze at. The lens selection is pretty good too.

I honestly don’t know if these guys have to show credentials or talk to the club manager or what, but every time I go, I end up standing next to a guy with a 20D and some L glass asking my drunk friends if he can take their picture before handing them a business card. It’s weird. Maybe I just go to creepy clubs…

If he offers to make you model, wait until the next day to go to his place.

Dude, stapler, what are you talking about?! Every time I go to a club, there are three or four creepy guys walking around with their gigantic cameras taking pictures of the sweaty, near alcohol-poisoned girls and then handing out their business cards encouraging them to buy the pictures from their website the next day. I doubt you can out-creepy those guys.

They let cameras in clubs now?
…Is this some kind of California thing?

The other question is why the hell did they use such a bad picture of her?

She’s on a tv show weekly, in HDTV, with lots of close ups, there are HDTV and crazy resolution photos of her from concerts where she’s undeniably sweaty and gross, and so on. And, in her almost two years of that, no one has seen her look this bad. And yet, for some reason, this obviously bad picture is the COVER of her 2nd photobook.
Anyone have any idea what on earth they’re thinking?

Is that the photographer equivilent of using an old server rack as a bookshelf?

Damn you for putting ideas in my head. Now, where can I find an old server rack…

Holy crap, a reply over a year later.

    Now I feel old… Again… DAMN IT!

640 pixels wide is not friendly to non-macro shots.

Sometimes I’m glad I have no eye for small details.

This guide is as funny as it is scary, and they do a pretty convincing job of looking like they know what they’re doing.

As an almost exclusively prime lens guy, let me just say cleaning the non-sensor part of your camera is overlooked waaaay too often.

    sod!

for a bonus point : zwaar kut?

(where this may lead is anyone’s guess!)

The sad part is how much easier the profane half is to translate…

This is probably not a good forum game to start.
    Sorry everyone.
