I’d just like to comment that Kauffman Stadium is a much better baseball park than that architectural nightmare, cramped, lopsided piece of crap Fenway, even if the Royals have sucked ever since Ewing sold the team.

Regarding a media pass, there was a photographer with a PRESS pass at a solar cook-off I attended on Sunday. I asked if he was with Reuters or AP (jokingly), or the local daily paper, and he said no. My next guess would have been the university paper, but he informed me that he was with the Bulletin, http://www.lascrucesbulletin.com/ It’s a weekly, and I think of it as one step above the Thrifty-Nickel or Penny-Saver. Now, this photographer had a DSLR, but it was a Rebel, so the employment requirements can’t be that high. My suggestion to you would be to find a similar local paper and present your portfolio and article ideas to them to see if they’ll give you a pass.

On the event side of the arrangement, you need to get with the promoter and producer, i.e. the people who control the guest list, and convince them that your coverage will improve their future revenue.

Are you just now figuring out that a magazine can sell more ad space for more money when they have more subscribers?

Meah. Damned desert. Damned sand. + 1/3rd

    There’s always a hater.

And there’s always Lake Havasu. It might go well with the voters. A little fan service never hurt.

I only tweet from my computer, and I only did that for FarkCon to keep up with happenings and let people know pics were uploaded.

There’s always Power Point. So easy, even an MBA can do it.

I can fabricate a spanner or two as needed. Tonight I peeled off the flat ring on the front with the model that surrounds the front element. Lo and behold, there are 3 screws, and it looks like they’re cemented. Likewise with the 4 screws on the body end. One of them won’t unscrew, so it may be Dremel time. 🙁

I’m not really sure if the IS still works nor exactly how to test it. I know with my EF-S 55-250, when the IS goes on the lens shifts its aim upwards a bit, as evidenced by tripod shots of the sun over the past few weeks. I suppose if I listen closely, then I might be able to hear the IS gyros whir.

Create a photo mosaic. Photo subjects must be similar in nature. All photos must be your own. Ideally your mosaic will have 4 or more components. Normal Farktography rules apply to each individual photo but you may use tools to combine your photos that would normally not be allowed.

Also, can I suggest the word “montage”?

Just to make sure I’m not out on a limb: No text, correct? Like If I made a mosaic of all my antique cameras, I couldn’t label them “Brownie Hawkeye Flash” etc., correct?

Have you ever thought of making the labels using a printer, placing them next to the cameras, and then taking the pictures?

Mopsy your unknown entry looks like a steam-powered tractor.

Yep. Steam tractor. The boiler tube is the big round tubular thing on the right, and you can see the fire box to the left of the seat.

    Ok, follow-up questions.
    1. What exactly are the “guides”? I can hear the focus motor whirring when I half press the shutter button, but there’s no motion.
    2. Does anyone have a source for exploded diagrams of this particular one or a similar lens?
    3. Do I need any tools besides a selection of small screw drivers? Can a pair of drafting dividers be put into service as a spanner pin wrench?

I suppose that might be the view from Uranus. I’ll leave it to the hardcore astronomy geeks to figure out how often that event happens. Although, based upon my trigonometry and data from Wikipedia, Saturn should be 17% of the Sun’s width, and its rings 52%. Consequently, perhaps this view is from Neptune?

    Clouds?
What are these strange things of which you speak?
As a desert dweller, such things are foreign to me.

Drat! Foiled again by Orionid’s mad skillz.
I’m using my Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS at the big end set to 1/500 and f/8.
My pic is full resolution, i.e. severely cropped.

Do tell, how do you get the great variation of shades across the sun?

Boobies post of Venus. And like all women, she sure takes her time. Much slower than the solar eclipse.
