    Damn…

    Ok…

    Suddenly a B-Side
    Suddenly a B-Side

My father’s family’s ration books from WWII.

It’s OK… I still have my Washboard B-side now suddenly promoted to A-Side

I just wanted to say to people archive diving that you don’t need to personally own the thing, but you should be able to USE the thing.

Define “use.” Let’s say it’s an item so obsolete you could not “use” it, but if you hopped in a time machine you would be set (for example, but not my shot, Confederate money).

Depending on your answer, I may have to access one of my Bs (the other B is an alternative to the one I’m asking about)

You can use confederate money. I know of several places in Virginia that accept confederate bills at face value.

    Egads!

So… do they accept WWII ration stamps as well?

Welcome to my tonight. I have 1 archive shot (I have to see if I used it already), and 2 items sitting on my dining table waiting for me to get home. Tonight’s the only time I’ll have.

I doubt I’ll have much competition for using these babies 😉

FWIW I finally got around to spending the gift certificate from my parents. Although the store they got it from has few items I could get for under $100, I added about $20 to it and for a flash bracket from Stroboframe and a flash extension cord. Gonna see how well they work with these items tonight. I’ve still got my other lights if I need to use ’em. Just have to hope I don’t run out of energy… only got about 12 hours sleep this weekend.

    That’s a lot of directions…

I’ll see if I can find the meter this weekend. I’ll get back to you if anything’s off.

As for jamming anything into a wall socket… that’s a lesson I learned as a tiny tot playing with one of the old-style coffee warmers. My wife nearly killed herself last year playing with the batteries on the camper… while it was still plugged into the house! A gold ring on her thumb tried to melt itself there.

Electricity is something I try not to screw with. I’m dumb enough to do something that would permanently maim me. It’s like car repair… I’m certain I could repair my brakes. I can change oil, I can change starters, alternators, thermostats, fan belts, etc… but screwing up the brakes could end up really badly. They may be easy, but I’d rather let the pros do that.

    No problem.

I did the same thing last week. I got an invite to a teacher thing at the state capitol. Header was “Free Teacher Workshop…” so I reply to the guy, and because most times he emails me there’s a cost to the events and it was never mentioned in the email, I asked.

Just never saw the word “Free” Doh!

(FWIW, I’m going to the capitol, so if there’s anyone near Albany, NY who would like to meet for lunch on April 6, PM me)
Gonna have some new pix, too…

I do. Apparently it’s a really nice one. (I got it as a random Christmas gift a few years ago from my wife’s family during a round-robin sort of thing. It garnered praise.) I am not sure I have any idea how to use it, though.

w/ Yugoboy, lots of great photos, but isn’t that the norm?

Yeah, but usually I feel at least one of mine can run with the big boys… this time I shoulda just stayed home.

Egads! I should have checked the thread before I submitted… I’m so bloody outclasses this week.

This is not a troll for compliments, either… I am thoroughly impressed with every one of the entries and am pretty sure I will end up at the bottom of the voting and deserve it. I like my pics… but I love all yours.

No problem. I get so much assistance around here, it’s a nice change when I can give back.

Yes… only it’s NOT obvious. Uncheck this: Enable modern rich text (WYSIWYG) editor for posting comments
It should be the second line under Comment Preferences (it is for me)

That’s weird that they would start working again at random. And that it would happen to both at the same time.

When I wrote that, the other one wasn’t working. I finally had an inspiration. When I was taking everything downstairs, the charging box (because I don’t know what the real name for it is) dropped on the floor. Wasn’t the first time, but when I plugged it in and it still didn’t work, I figured it was worth a shot and whacked it a couple times real good with my hand… it started working. I got no clue…

Does not explain the work one, though…

WTF… now the work one’s working (for now) but the home one is still squirrelly.

    Dammit.

Last time, it at least did me the courtesy of taking a while to die, and giving me lots of chances…

As long as this is working, I’ll hold off the OBO request. That may change, however.

Well… at least there are dozens of the work computer ones at work, and I can always get another one from the tech dudes. The home one is out of warranty by a LOT and as such is going to cost me a Rocketfish universal charger (because iGo doesn’t make the “tip” I need… I’ve been through this once before. . .when it was under warranty, but I didn’t want to wait the couple weeks for the new one to get shipped here. I’ve got an iGo one for my REALLY old laptop – the one with WinME on it. . . )

It’s in your settings in your profile. I had the same problem a few weeks back. Be sure to look thoroughly. I missed the line and check box the first 8 times I looked for it. It is there, however.
