ParticipantThanks!

ParticipantDamn Flickr. I don’t remember which image was 1/3 and got deleted.

ParticipantLots of expensive equipment and some level of risk in losing it in some way? More money for them, eh? 😉
I want ruins like that to shoot in.
But it’s more expensive to insure people for liability than to cover equipment. Equipment is pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things – buy a replacement, and it’s done.
If someone falls down a stairwell and ends up with spinal damage, the costs just go on forever.

ParticipantI think I just heard every insurance provider in the world cringe.
No, that was clearly the sound of a lot of insurance providers’ rear sphincters puckering, not cringing per se.
A cringe usually has a kind of “oh, crap” sound to it. Like Hellboy.
That was closer to a “schlup” sound, which is the same sound I heard from my own insurance company when I made a left turn in front of a Mercedes.
While I was on my learner’s permit.
With my father in the passenger seat.

ParticipantNext step – integrating a model with the lightning. We’re going out Wednesday night to try that, so I may be a bit late on my Farktography submissions…

ParticipantI’ve used Ewa-Marine gear before. It feels a lot less flimsy than it looks, and I didn’t have any problems with using it. Just make sure you dry the case off carefully before opening the locking bar.

ParticipantI almost submitted this one:
…but the wings aren’t visible. That white line that disappears behind the trees is a departure from Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
And I’m betting the passengers weren’t all that happy about the wind under their wings. Or their butts.
(Yes, clicking on it will get you to the Flickr page and larger versions)

ParticipantWow, drainage must suck out there. We got 3 inches in less than 6 hours the other night, and everything was fine as soon as the rain stopped falling.
Yes, drainage sucks. Most of the “dirt” out here is the consistency of ten-year-old Portland cement. My tent stakes are pieces of 1/2″ round steel rod, 18″ long. And I *still* bend one every time I put the tent up…
Thanks for the comment on the image. It’s one of my favorites at the moment.

ParticipantSo does that mean you got 2 or 3 drops of rain?
No, it means we got over an inch in less than 24 hours.
caradoc
ParticipantOh, I’ve got a few of those…

ParticipantWhat about clouds? I’ve got a few shots that are nicely blue and purple, with no sky at all – but they do include clouds. Completely overcast.
Yea or nay?

ParticipantI’d rather take a clean 8MP sensor with a wide dynamic range than a noisy 50 MP sensor that blows highlights.
In general, so would I.
But when you’re trying to set up 16 4′ x 8′ panels as the end result, megapixels really *do* count.
