ParticipantWe have plenty of Walmarts down here in Mexico (full of the usual suspects), so that sounds funny (and risky, I could get shot just for showing up with a camera). And anyway, the ‘people of Walmart’ they really know no borders.

ParticipantSometimes you just gotta play to play emiliogtz but I’ve definitely had those weeks before.
Thanks kestrana. I had a few ideas but I guess I’ll redirect that energy to the next contest!

ParticipantI had a horrible week and managed to make only one photograph for this contest. i got another one from the archive. Not too happy about it. Specially after seen what you guys are coming up with, as usual.

ParticipantKinda like watching for a pot to boil thing.
Exactly, how many times you have been just waiting for the sun to set and it takes forever.
Missed the sunset yesterday, and the sunrise today, some things came up that will probably leave me with just the old shots I have since I’m kinda stuck in my house today.

ParticipantOh well, made a 300mm effort, I may do another one standing farther from the subject, but it’s getting really complicated, it seems I need at least 500mm over a cropped sensor, also, the sun takes only a few seconds to go away completely (never noticed that before), not too many chances a day to get the shot. No matter how much I run and I run to catch up with the sun, it’s always sinking… =)

Have some images ready from the archive though.
And yes, this looks like a run for the second place, U-Man.

ParticipantI was planning on doing one of those shots where the sun is huge in the frame, with a silhouette of a person in front of it. My longest focal length is 200mm and I know is not enough. Any suggestion on what should I be shooting with, 400, 500mm? Maybe I can borrow a tele converter from a friend, I believe it’s a 1.7x, but I don’t know if it will cover my need.

ParticipantOkay, had to adjust the focal length to get a better focused image. The thing looks and works better now:

ParticipantLast weekend I made a ‘pinhole lens’ out of an old AI Sigma zoom. Just removed all of the optics, the diaphragm (it was busted) and the helicoids.
Haven’t been able to test it properly, handheld gets me too much blur, may need to make the hole smaller. Hell, I’m even able to zoom a bit with the thing. You can take a look at it:

If I get some free time this weekend I’ll mount it on a film camera and expose some B/W film with it.
I guess it’s lo-fi enough, right?
