ParticipantSounds good to me CISS, thanks for condensing it down to its pure form.
Let’s Hootenanny!

ParticipantWell Rav,..
I played around with dropevent.com and it does not even come close, so I think I’m at least going to take a test plunge into google+
I’m not a big social network person but it looks like it will do what I have in mind (post photos in a private group, allow for discourse between participants).
Any pointers for a noob?

ParticipantWhy can’t I embed from Flickr? I’m doing it the same way I used to, but now it just shows the coding. I feel like a dumbarse.
The Fark comment box has two options, the old way and the new way (default). Which one you use can be set to default in preferences or by using the “use html buttons” button in the comment area. I know this has caused other people issues, not sure if it will help. Good luck, we’re all counting on oyu.

ParticipantAnybody Seen CISS? Doesn’t look like BiblioStats is working.

ParticipantEls, I can only assume that Gitzo’s name was on purpose. I appreciate unique pet names, excellent work.

ParticipantCant we just let it all hang out here? I mean, jebus…with Orionid’s tongue sticking out like that and all…why even bother to keep things kosher? It is *Hoot*y isn’t it? (I mean the theme, of course) Just my opinion, having nothing for this contest eyet’ YMMV
Kind of leaning this way myself. Maybe a rule/caveat that’s more of a suggestion,… “OK folks, try to not make this a classic PS contest” or something to that effect. As we’re seeing, software is a slippery slope, might as well put our collective hands in the air and scream “Wheeee!!!” as we head for the bottom.
We do have the as yet unspoken (I think, haven’t made a thorough review) rule for this that all the photos must be yours. This means at least we won’t have the looter guy, paint huffer guy or whoever the darling of the week is showing up.

ParticipantMy take is that the caveat “no wild/zoo photos allowed” implies the kind of pet that is living.
That’s the direction I went anyways./Not my theme, IANAL, FWIW, YMMV, BBQ, BFF, OMG, WTF

ParticipantI have to say, G+ is built for this. Most of us create a community forum to share photos within. But it may be too much for the newbs to handle.
It might be a place to “wind up” if this thing takes off.
Do you know if google retains the “derivative works” rights still? I’m kind of leery of that. Truth be told, I have not taken the time to see if it is an important consideration since I found a web host with which it is a non-issue.
fluffybunny
ParticipantYeah, I want to keep this thing “least common denominator” until I know where it’s going.

Participant/Also loves me some lame jokes.
Oooh, me too! One of my favorite fatherly activities is looking for the lamest jokes I can find to torment my son with. I usually try to wait until we’re in the car to tell them so he’s a captive audience.
// Have you heard the one about the boy who hated lines? That was my most recent implement of torture. I drug that one out for at least 5 minutes before dropping the lameness on him.
I knew I liked you for a reason.
CSB: I was on a nature walk recently and a young man whom I only knew casually was telling about how he helped to put ID tags on some of the trees. Complete dead pan straight faced asked him “So, do the tags eventually fall off (strategic pause to give him a second to prepare a response), and then grow back in the spring?” Deer in the headlights, bug in a jar and WTF looks all at once. My wife stepped in and explained that he was going to have to “get to know” my sense of humor.

ParticipantI follow the Hippocratic Oath when it comes to photography: First, do no harm. Unless there is a compelling reason I will never release a photo showing my subject in an unflattering light. And the compelling reason cannot be “I get a paid a lot of money”
MAYBE if I were paid a shit load of money…
So, it’s like the old joke where the guy at the bar asks the lady next to him, “Madam, would you sleep with me for a million dollars?” and she answers, “Well, you’re not bad looking, so yes, I guess I’d do that.”
He then asks, “OK, would you sleep with me for fifty dollars?” She replies, “Of course not! What kind of girl do you think I am?” He replies, “We’ve already established that; now we’re just negotiating the price!” 😆
Loves me some classic jokes. LOL.
