As Elsinore asked on Flickr and I don’t want people thinking I was going against rules (I can’t imagine we’re allowed to post actual images of dead people) or getting TOO creepy, my first shot is a self portrait; it is NOT a corpse, just me pretending to be one. I’m just wearing makeup and I’m pretty pale anyways. If I weren’t in Italy I would have asked someone to model for me because executing that idea as a self portrait was nightmarish and the photos didn’t turn out nearly as well as I’d hoped, but I don’t know anyone well enough here to invite them home to play ‘corpse’.

Well my dad happened to be heading out on a business trip this afternoon so I went out with the ‘rents, said goodbye to him, then dragged my mother around the terminal. Unfortunately there weren’t any great shots, although I do think I have a somewhat humorous one that fits the terminal ‘madness’ part. It’s not great photography, though. Meh. Next week will be better. I hope. I tried to convince my mother to make a small child cry, as I liked the idea of a picture of a small soul screaming his or her head off in the middle of chaos and baggage (well, baggage, anyways, there was depressingly little chaos), but she declined and every child we saw was unfortunately happy. Great for travelling parents, not so great for me.

Is anyone else’s image host taking a beating tonight, or am I just lucky?

Your photos are just unbelievably gorgeous this week (as usual)! Although it doesn’t seem to be the popular choice, I actually think I like your “favourite camping spot” one better than the “rainbow” one. But they should give Flavivirus a run for his money, IMO.

/While I think that it is cool that this theme was so popular, my cat is pretty bummed. Perhaps instead of going for the interesting perspective with the 10-22 mm in his face I’ll try the 300 mm from further away next time.

I don’t know. I’m a particular fan of your cat’s bling! Pretty damn awesome.

You could have deleted them an hour ago 😛 Instead I now have to submit them down 100 entries!

Arg. Yes, I just got caught by this, too. Teach me to not read the small print! Too bad the moderator privileges don’t allow deletion of text!

Things do seem to be slowing down a little, though. I think everyone was waiting to submit. I delayed going to the gym by 26 mins! (and I need to go now! Will check back later for kitty goodness… )

I’m so sad I missed my own theme. Good job everyone! I should be back in a couple of weeks; I’m still in Italy, my excavation is finally over but I have some work to do in a museum for a week and then I fly back to Canada. It’s been a crazy few weeks…

what? youre going to let little things like dissertations, work, or birth of your first born interfere with farktography? Shame! 🙂 Gotta set priorities.

I know… It’s silly of me! I looked at your photos while I was voting & I did vote for them (I especially liked the composition of the drop), but I think perhaps the colouring is at least partially why they aren’t garnering the votes you’d like. They’re a little dark and the bowl (which is very interesting with those flecks of light) is rather pink. The others are purple, but they don’t have the intensity of colour that some of the stronger photos do. Anyways, not trying to be nasty, just a little feedback (at least for what shows up on my screen)…

As I said earlier, great job everyone. And despite what I just said about intensity of colour, I think I like bobroberts‘ Mongolian ‘elder’ best. It could be straight off the cover of National Geographic.

Kudos to EVERYONE; there are so many excellent shots! I wish I had time right now to be participating, but the last few weeks have been a real push to get my dissertation proposal done and submitted. Maybe I can play hooky this week and take some photos!

This theme has had Bette Midler’s song in my head all week. I look forward to its removal.

One thing I was pondering is what is your definition of ‘distance’? Distance doesn’t necessarily have to be “far away”. You shot just has to show some sort of distance. 1m can be a distance the same as 1km, no?

attached is a somewhat lame example, but I guess distance is relative…

Obviously it’ll need a mod or Killerclaw to make a final ruling (ahem), but in the original discussion of the theme, when it was proposed, the idea was to show a subject of at least a km away. I guess we should know if it was decided to relax that? A long shot can be difficult, but I kinda thought that was part of the challenge of the theme!

Very nice! Some great shots in that set–I really liked some of the dancing ones. Looked like a fun trip!

Thank you for the compliment. I’ll take what I can get.

It was meant to be a compliment; everyone’s photos were so serious and I thought yours were intended to be a little more humorous, which I appreciated. Animals are frequently so funny. Especially your ducks (although I think ‘coons have a rascally side and it looked like you caught them red handed)! But both your photos struck me, in a good way.

sigh. Foot, have you met mouth? I’ll just shut up, now, before I confuse everybody.

    Yeah, some awesome stuff.

It’s an honour to be in the top 30 for this one, I think!

andyofne, I was showing the thread to my mother and she laughed at both your ‘coons and your ducks!! Kudos on a couple of excellent, entertaining photos! 😀

This is my second contest this month where all 3 of my entries have been of deer.

Maybe I should just start using the name deermofo.

I knew who had submitted your photos immediately, without looking at the name. Deer me, they do seem to appeal to you (not as groan-worthy as Elsinore‘s comment, but I had to try).

Pity the rules couldn’t be relaxed for staplermofo to do one of a stapler in the wild. I wonder, do they roam in packs or grow on trees?
