ParticipantI haven’t had any problem with TSA and camera/laptop equipment since 9/11. I’ve flown out of O’Hare/Midway Chicago, Reno, McCarran Las Vegas, LAX, Hartford, Sacramento, Seatac, though not all of those with film. We had zero problems this weekend with TSA thank goodness. McCarran has the full body scanners and I was prepared to become a statistic because I would have refused to go through them and taken the pat-down instead.

ParticipantI use our 18-105 as my main lens, orionid uses a 24mm prime f/2.8. Would really like a 10-24 at some point, or something along those lines as a wide zoom but for things like the zoo the other day I just can’t not use a zoom lens.

ParticipantShe’s very nice but she’s also an example of: pretty, rich family, intelligent; choose two.

ParticipantKestrana I think I owe my current top photo to you, you pointed out the tilt shift site. My original 3rd entry was something else completely.
Happy you found something that worked for you. I got it from the last Tilt-shift contest.

ParticipantOooh I want to see it when you process it. And Intolerant Jerk just replied in the thread and I don’t know what he said but it sounds expen$ive.

ParticipantIntolerant Jerk‘s stuff is interesting. On the one hand, I’ve seen that with the right equipment ($cha ching$) this can be done. MY scope can do it, technically (had I the equipment enhancifiers.)
On the same hand, his last such picture got dq’d, for stacking (which he readily admitted to, and provided shot and filter details). So maybe he (she?) has such toys.
On the other hand…
I’d like to know of what the image is; location, common name, etc. A little perspective, perhaps.
I would too. It irritates me with people don’t say anything about their pictures. OTOH I looked at his smugmug and he has about 30 pictures of nebulae so he must have access to a scope or the goods.

ParticipantEverything I’ve read about the D7000 makes it seem worth the investment. But orionid has a D90 and he likes it.

ParticipantWell I’m not a mod but my 2 cents in the interpretation would be as long as both pictures are taken by you and as long as you’re not actually adding elements within the picture, simply erasing one layer to show another would be okay. But I can see where the argument could be made that it’s too much like a photoshop contest then. As Elsinore would say, mea culpa.

ParticipantOr look through the last Software Hootenanny on the FSM. I’m not a pro at every technique but orionid and I would be happy to help you if you want to try out something that you saw someone else do or your own photos.
