ParticipantI really love macro photography so I’m excited you’re getting the opportunity to explore it. The angle and set up of a lot of your shots are intriguing.
One thing I would suggest is to think more about your main focus; a lot of your pictures seem to have a soft focus or the focus isn’t on what I as the viewer would consider to be the logical subject of the photo. I don’t know if your macro lens is auto or manual focus, but I always use MF when shooting macro and I usually take 2-3 shots of each photo with slightly different focus adjustments even when I think I have it in focus, because it can be really difficult to tell looking through the camera and in review if it’s truly as crisp as I can make it. This is especially the case when taking photographs outdoors, a tiny gust of wind throws it all off.
The only other feedback I can give you is I would like to see the bell jars and other items on black or white backgrounds.

ParticipantI like the organization Flickr offers and it’s a more active community than pretty much any other photo sharing website. But I agree that their latest round of revisions weren’t all improvements.

ParticipantAnything in my Flickr is fine just let me know you’re using it.

Participant…I think you’re getting a little too hung up on the voting aspect of Farktography.

ParticipantI hate calling autumn “fall” tbh. Fall is definitely a slang term. Autumn is my favorite season. Or Auutuumnu. Whatever.

ParticipantYeah I noticed that. Oh well I can just post when I add stuff.

ParticipantIn part I feel like many of you do in the thread about the voting this week. My Egypt reflections picture is one of my personal favorites but it also marks the time where I feel I transformed from a person taking snapshots to an amateur photographer considering more than just the main subject in the picture. At the same time I also feel like telling the whole lot of us to stop whining because our idea of art isn’t the mass idea, apparently. The last few posts make me feel like a sellout because I happened to post a picture of a flower this week. Personally, I think that picture is the best one I’ve ever taken, I’ve been saving it for this contest since I took it and I was excited to share it with everyone. We might be collectively disappointed in the voting but I think if the John Q. Public voter were to read this thread they would get turned off from participating and that is definitely what we DON’T want.

ParticipantOMG Kestrana, those colors in your flower shot are gorgeous! I’ve never seen one like it, do you know what kind of flower that is?
Unfortunately no. I’ve looked on the Central Park flower website and several tropical websites. Found some other pictures of the same flower on Flickr with such helpful names as “Blue Flower”.

ParticipantDeveloping your own film is actually very easy. We do it in our bathroom. It takes about a half hour and doesn’t leave a mess (other than the negatives drying). I’m not a particularly technical person but I can do it and the sense of satisfaction from taking the picture to completion is really great.

ParticipantWhat was sent in was just the sample the agent is shopping to the publisher. Of the actual book it’s only chapter 1.
