has anyone else received an unusually high number of hits to their gallery for this contest? i think people must think mine is porn or something (the title of it is ‘our bodies’, so i guess that is reasonable), because i’ve gotten over 300 hits since putting the pics up this morning (usually i’ll get about 30-40 per gallery).

Sorry, I should have said that I don’t want to dress up the staplers. I mean, having sex with them with one thing, but dressing them up is for weirdos.

right right right, sorry. then all i’ve got is aging the photos (via sepia, spots, fading out one color, etc.).

1890-1910….sepia? only not uniform sepia, more as if it had been in the sun and faded unevenly….could also get an old photo from an antique store, scan it, and use its blemishes and spots via photoshop.

20’s – flapper costume! high waisted pants and spats! ummm….great depression, dustbowl, prohibition….short wavy hair and feathers….ok…i know staplers don’t have hair….urrr…

60’s-70’s – i think it’s red (?) that fades from color photographs first (or maybe it’s blue…dangit) – you could take a color shot and take down the red (or blue) levels in photoshop to give it that ‘old’ feeling…tie dye, tight jeans, fringe, sansabelt slacks……

aaaaah, farktography, the universal humbler.

i, too, came in cocky and confident, only to receive a massive smackdown to the tune of 25th place (thank you FSM for your archival mastery!) with the winning entry (by the always fabulous idle_hands) receiving almost 5 times as many votes as my highest placing photo.

since then, farktography has become my favorite part of fark. i’ve made friends, i’ve gotten to post my work and receive feedback weekly, and i’ve been honored to see the amazing work submitted by fellow farktographers every week.

it is truly a wonderful creation and endeavor.

oh, and schnee – a monkeybort is a borter of monkeys. 😛

I finally stumbled upon (well, stumbled after) the perfecto margarita mix.

Equal parts tequila (anejo or reposado), fresh lime juice and Cointreau. Shake, pour, splash of Gran Marnier. Drink. Rocks, no salt.

ok, this is gonna get weird:

can of lime-aid
can of american, mass-produced, macro brew such as budweiser
fill the lime-aid can with tequila (or 1/2 to 2/3 full)
ice
blend

mmmmmmmmmmmmm………….

My graffiti choices are pretty limited in my area, which brings me to a question. One of the few shots I did get contained an expletive. Will this present a problem for posting in the thread?

i don’t *think* so, but i can’t be sure. i’ve seen people post images/graphics (such as the HA!HA! guy) containing profanity and haven’t heard of repercussions. maybe you could put a note saying if anyone has a problem with it to email you and then you could ask the mods to take it down?

This might not mean anything to most of you, but there’s talk of tearing down one of the coolest and spookiest places I’ve ever been to: the old Hill Ward asylum ruins in Fort Steilacoom Park, Lakewood WA. The adult in me understands the risk of the place, but the kid/photographer/adventurer in me mourns the loss.

I guess if we’re going to have our Full Moon Traveling Underground Photo Party we’d better do it soon 😥 I have to thank GalleyWench again for telling me about this place. I know, I know, it’s been a recurring farktography theme for me but visiting at night brought me closer to peeing my pants than any other memory of adulthood.
