ParticipantYikes!
(should have very quietly swapped out to a macro lens, then came back)
Luckily I had just swapped out to my 70-300 so I was able to get to a safe distance to shoot. I have better ones that I will post as soon as I process them.
Edit: Big ass snake shot

ParticipantI don’t get it. I thought you were supposed to put moccasins on your feet.
Yea ..I’ll pass on the slithery kind of moccasins thank you.
Actually I did a bit of research and found out that it is a Banded water snake.
Not venomous but they will bite very hard as a coworker of mine found out last year when a bite from one of these bad boys got very infected and almost cost him his hand.
I think I’ll stay away from these guys too just to be safe.

ParticipantOk so I go at lunch to take a few last minute shots at an old mill dam down the road from work. I am standing on the edge of the stream with the camera on the tripod looking through the veiwfinder when I feel something on my foot.
I look down and see this:

A water moccasin is trying to use my feet as a warmer upper!
I slowly slide him off my foot and step back a few feet to snap a few pics of him.
The things I do for Farktography!

ParticipantNeed a judgment call.
Is a herring run on the side of a dam acceptable?

ParticipantDon’t forget that you were drunk, so that’s definitely a good keeper ratio for drunktography 😉 Cool stuff, too!
I really wasn’t too drunk, but shooting in a mosh pit with a p&s, in constantly changing light conditions is very challenging.

Participantmy best deer shot…
Uuuhhh. Typically dams are slower, less easily frightened and more predictably located. 😉
/if needed, dams can also be made.
//hmmm. if i went to the sporting goods store i bet i could get right up close to a deer head….Yea…I have a ton of dam shots, but I wanted honest to goodness in the wild living deerz! Dam it!

ParticipantThanks Choc-Ful-A bucky_bacon & U-Man for the props.
All my entries this week were shot Wednesday morning. Maybe I should wait till last minute all the time.
There were a ton of great shots this week.
U-Man I still think the Mother stone is awesome!
Has anyone ever gotten 1-2-3 before?

ParticipantOk..So I said screw it and snuck out of work for a bit and headed over to the closest large cemetery.
Spent about 20 minutes shooting and took 150 shots.
Now lets see if there is anything good.
Yes I did get funny looks from the old folks that were driving in and out. Almost like I was committing a sin by taking pictures of headstones. Screw em!
The caretaker/groundskeeper did walk by as I was laying on the ground taking a shot and said to me “Lovely day to take pictures” (It really is, the sky is deep blue this morning)
/edited for punctuation 🙂
