ParticipantThat’s what she said.

ParticipantI have no clue on what will be popular this week.
‘Tis why I used the shotgun approach 😆

ParticipantThat sucks ‘stag.

ParticipantI’m waffling so much I should open a restaurant, zincprincess =P

ParticipantMine are going to be from the last month or so, I think, but I might look back to see if there are any exemplary shots from the last year or so. But, none of them were really taken with the contest in mind…just from walking around with the camera.
clouddancer. I think the Turbo Bubbles is definitely in keeping with the contest. The others feel…staged. Just my opinion though.

ParticipantThe shadows in that last one reeeealy make the pic. Cool.

Participanti know dead animals are not allowed on fark but how about skeletons? in this case a (mostly clean) deer carcass.
Not the ones in your closet I presume?
/I keed. You should probably see if Els or another mod will give you a judgement callolavf
ParticipantWe need to have more contests. I have too many pictures.
All the pictures I posted earlier were from Sunday. Everything I’m considering is less than a month old. But I don’t need more contests. I’d probably go (more) insane 😛

ParticipantI like the glasses. That definitely adds a touch.

ParticipantYeah, the tripod work can be key on those. Meteor Crater is a cool subject too. I haven’t been there…yet

ParticipantI’d say that’s a “definitely”, lokisbong. And a pretty cool shot, to boot.

ParticipantCool. I’d rotate it to level the skyline, but it gives a good feel for the expanse.
/don’t to many pano’s, but should probably do some more. Maybe for ‘mountains…etc’. But the pano tool has served me well in the past.olavf
ParticipantI guess that’s the thing that’s been giving me fits U-man. I don’t *think* the average person would see the girl against the brick wall, and think, “I want that picture” until they saw it as a picture… Yet I think the spittoon is more along the lines of what you were thinking when you submitted. And then there’s other stuff like the shot I took of a bug eating a yellowjacket – which as a picture probably wouldn’t work without the back-story of how I was standing in a field taking a picture into a tree, and getting a total WTF? look from this family until I called their kids over to see what I was looking at. But I don’t like posting pics that need a back-story to fit the theme.
Like the time I climbed a gantry to take a shot of a bunch of Hell’s Angels posing in front of a B-52.
http://65.78.140.207/TF/mypics/100606.planes/bikes_and_bombs-4801_sm_web.JPGThe camera *really* made me do it, and in retrospect I probably could have gotten my ass kicked. but I *needed* the shot.
So, like you, I may have to just drop ten and punt
(that’s the correct term, right?)olavf
ParticipantWhat’s your camera? The photostitch utility that comes on the Canon CD is pretty good. And the price is right if you bought the camera…
olavf
ParticipantI would kinda see an argument for both of those, olavf
I can too – I think they’re examples of the sorts of vignettes I see every day whether I have a camera in hand or not, that I don’t think most people see, but at the same time, reading the comments I get the feeling they’re fairly loose interpretations – especially the brick wall.
Not my call of course, but I would think the 2nd one would fit. “Most people” wouldn’t normally photograph that. I think the first one is more of the “common subject shot in a different way” that U-Man was ruling out earlier. But again – not my call.
I suspect you’re right there.
I was considering this one –
http://www.flickr.com/photos/redletterphoto/4722739812/in/set-72157624343600428/That’s too funny. I like it, I really do. And it makes me glad I’d nixed this one 😉
