ParticipantWhat chupa said. High ISO, longer lens so you’re not at max to get the show.
They won’t allow a tripod, but if you have a monopod I’d try and bring that in.

ParticipantI have no idea. I’ve given up guessing. Especially after this week
/that or my pictures have hit a new level of suckitude.olavf
ParticipantAwesome.
And yeah, I still think of photographs as two separate entities – the digital, and the print. I’d certainly like to think someone was looking at one of my prints 50 years from now…

ParticipantI sign the back of the print, and the matting if applicable (I usually mat my own prints).
The back of the print I use an archival-quality pen, and the mat, I sign in pencil. I put the year and the title on the back too.
Oh, and congrats!

ParticipantMy neighbors think I’m stark raving mad.
“He was running around the back yard waving a pitchfork over his head…I think he’s possessed by the devil!”
Oh well, maybe it will keep their horses out of my yard.
My neighbors have known that for years….
They don’t even look at me funny when I’m up on the roof with the camera any more .

That’s cool.
Personally my take on the theme is more the ‘if it splits, it fits’ idea. If it were my decision, that one, and the market shadow, definitely. As with the alien thingy. The others, I dunno.

ParticipantI blame Yogi.

ParticipantI don’t have the plugin installed any more – it slowed down FF, I think, for me too.
gallery2 uses the engine for it’s slideshow though (not as the ‘wall’ but as a 2d show) and that’s not bad.
Yeah, nifty concept though.

ParticipantIf you read through the CDHK FAQs, somewhere in there is a note from someone quoting a Canon CSR as saying it wouldn’t void the warranty. So, they’re aware of it, and haven’t taken any steps to have that removed…
I’m guessing they’re being passive about it. They don’t want to ‘actively’ support it (though I wish they did – like Linksys does with some of their routers) but they’re not saying ‘don’t do it’ either. I understand that there are a very few cases where a combination of settings can damage the camera – IIRC there was something about certain circumstances where you could try to drive the zoom past the stops and potentially damage the gearing – but I think it’s a safe bet that they service a lot more returns for general stupidity (the “it quit working all of a sudden but I’m not going to tell you I dropped it” ones) than they’d ever see from those instances, or just from someone using CDHK in general.
And besides, they allow users to do firmware upgrades. That’s far, far more risky than someone running a layer of software on top.

ParticipantMe too. As much consternation as we had leading up to the contest, it worked out pretty well.

ParticipantCongrats to U-Man and everyone this week. An 11-point spread between 1st and 20th shows how tight this contest really was.
