The first of the two crabs pics made me lol.
And I don’t think it would get you banned. We’ve had penis-shaped rocks before after all 🙂

ParticipantMy bad. I was thinking of selectively tinted B&W’s. I’d prefer grayscale only, but I don’t have strong frrlings about it.

ParticipantIt’s not a Canon.
/sorry, I couldn’t resist 😛September 15, 2009 at 2:28 am in reply to: 10-07-09 – Farktography Classic: Black and White 2 #24313olavf
ParticipantMy vote would be ‘not’ given we just did selective saturation, and also because it’s more process-oriented than photography oriented.

ParticipantThat’s a funny question, linguine considering I’ve got a boobies, and then a good year and a half before I started participating. Personally, I’m going for the latter, since I hadn’t considered those contests at all, let alone take pictures for them.
/but that’s just me. I’m weird.olavf
ParticipantAs long as credited I would allow mine to be used though I reserve the right to not allow specific images.
I’m good with all of mine (well, except for the ones that suck). A couple of them would need permission from the model though, but I suspect she’d be game.

ParticipantWell done indeed, U-Man. Congrats.

ParticipantMirrored, rotated, whatever. Same general idea.
olavf
ParticipantI entered one in Deer and Dams and no one complained.

Participantyou should use that second one if we ever have a theme of photos to make soosh get dizzy and fall over
lol I actually rejected one of the red ones for that reason too – it was a bit worse than that even, I think. The pattern is the top diffuser panel in our light box, and it took a bit of playing with F-stops to get it the way I wanted it (the first and the second shots are the same water drop at different angles camera settings)

Participantyeah, if they were minimal enough, I would have used them. show us what you’ve got, olavf, or did you already and I didn’t see it?
They were pretty minimal (just kidding)
These two actually were B-Sides:

http://65.78.140.207/TF/farktography/090909_minimal/drop-1634_sm_web.JPG
-the second one turned into the prototype for my ‘red’ entry. This one I decided was more abstract than minimal, though I suppose if I’d redone it without the mirror it could have gone either way:
http://65.78.140.207/TF/farktography/090909_minimal/clown-1609_sm_web.JPGAnd a bunch of stuff like this guy on his motorcycle…
http://65.78.140.207/TF/mypics/090831_fair/bike-1392_sm_web.JPG
most of it’s still in RAW though 😛olavf
ParticipantI still don’t think my b-sides were minimal enough 😛

Participantsoosh, I agree with NBD. I’ll have to try the milk jug thing.
Justkat, you and I are on the same page. I think one of the issues with this form of art is that folks have different bullshit thresholds. When I see a minimalist painting with just a black line on white background my BS alarm goes off. Yet I think that this works – http://www.flickr.com/photos/bbaadd/2592988084/ . I’m sure that some folks would look at the raindrops and not “get it”.
The asymmetry is what really makes that picture work.
And as far as the different ‘levels’, I’m with you. I am rejecting one because I think it’s more abstract than minimal. And the debate continues 😛
