i happen to like the shot and wanted to use it but remain legal while i did. this satisfies that.

well my yellow building with row of flags got 4 votes last time and 4 this time. so it’s consistent at least. and i still like it best of the three i entered.

eh, you never know. I thought my “emperor’s new flag” would get teh funnay vote, but apparently not. = Oh well, like you said, *I* like it. Not like it’s spectacular photography or anything. I just think it’s funny. I am sometimes much funnier in my head than out. 😛

At first I thought I had no usable input along this line. Then I realized that it wasn’t all that long ago (10-12 years) that I helped contribute to the delinquency of a few teenage girls. Her parents slept resonably well. At least well enough that they didn’t wake up when I would climb the trellace, tap on her window, and have her sneak out. They even had a car sensor in the driveway that would sound a chime in the house. All that meant was I was parking on the street.

Another question about the filters and stuff. Does it all have to be applied to the whole image or can it be selected parts? I’m playing with an apple blossom picture and I got the blossom part I wanted selected and moved to another layer and I was playing around with making the rest of the image like water, or plastic wrap (the filter options available). So, is doing that ok, the selected parts, or does it have to be across the whole thing? I think I just got way wordier than I needed to, but oh well. Thanks!

My assumption is that that would be acceptable – not really all that different from selective desaturation if you think about it. You just can’t add or remove individual elements from the picture.

KEH.com is another good used dealer (I find they usually have the most stuff and the best prices, but they do some annoying things like usually selling lenses without caps unless you buy them separately)

My Dad’s mentioned Craigslist before (I swear his answer for everything lately is Craigslist), and pawn shops. I have been hesitant, but I will make a note to search every now and then and try to scrounge up some money. My husband comments regularly on the lack of quality for the camera so it’s as much to shut him up and something for both of us to play with (though it’ll be mine and if he wants one he can go get one for himself).

Keep an eye at BHphoto.com and Adorama.com also. Those are the places I go to first when I’m looking for used lenses.

clouddancer, don’t be afraid to look at Craigslist or at the camera shops for a ‘gently used’ older model. Often times you can get something perfectly adequate for a fraction of new.
