As Kes mentioned, file sizes have changed. On the BiblioStats side, I implemented the Normalized Place calcuation that you (and I think rav) wanted.

How’s everything in Hawaii (other than busy)?

C) Things in Hawaii are…well, Hawaii. Research is going well too. I’m working on the detectability of plate tectonics on exoplanets now. Cool stuff.

Oh, also also, in the interim I got myself an F100 and I’m shooting Velvia now as well as digital. Fun times!

Not quite sure yet, but it’s a good bet I’ll be on the mainland to visit my family between Dec 20ish and sometime in the first week of January. I’ll warn you, though-that’s probably the worst time to come out here (January, that is). It’s our two weeks of winter, which are rainy and windy in the extreme.

OMFG! M51 is STUNNING visually through a 30″ newt. That scope is a yard cannon.

Try it through a 90″ research grade telescope. Un. Believable.

I’ve just been too busy-I barely have any time for research, let alone photography. And it was my theme! There is light at the end of the tunnel though, I know this massive onslaught of homework is going to end soon-we’re on the last assignment for the semester in one class, and the instructor for the other class has a week-long trip just before spring break.

A 1/2 arcminute FoV is incredibly tiny. The moon is about 32 arcminutes (~0.5 degrees) in diameter on average, and Andromeda is about 3 degrees.

Almost sounds like my buddy that lived in Punchbowl. I cheated and took a house up the Waiau Ridge in Aiea.

That looks like a nice area. Also, from what I see online the rent is a lot cheaper than it is here. I do quite like Manoa, though. It’s nice and quiet, but just a 5 minute drive from the city.
