Helpful. Still, it ain’t no #12–that’s the most creative thing I didn’t come up with since…Toybowquelowsis. I’ll nap on it and make the decision in a couple hours. I already took a picture this morning that blew everything prior away (IMHO); to give up two of the original three pains me like a boil on my ass. Damn you, U-Man, for a theme that allowed me to take so many good pictures that I want to be Sybil for a day.

    There’s always IDIDSAPT, however.

Decision making for this theme shows the difficulty in choosing between: a good photo, what fits the theme, what I think the voters will think. Will they understand that this theme is about the seat?

Not that I don’t have a hard enough decision, but what’s you opinion of the cat in the tree?

    The conflict:

As I previously said, open interpretation is fine. I would like the sitting place to have significance though. I mean, just some guy sitting on something isn’t what this is about.

I’m suffering from a bad case of “don’t-know-what-the-freakin-voters-want” this week and could use some feedback in narrowing down my choices. If anyone feels so inclined and has the time, my potentials are posted here: Potential Have A Seat Entries. TIA…

I like 10 and 17 especially, but if you do not use 12 (and not 13 but 12), then you are a fool. That’s most excellently executed and a sure hit!

(*sniffles at the lost opportunity to do better*)

I’ve been figuring out that less is more most of the time; some of the others, while very good pictures (love the palms, but not for this contest), come across as too busy to me.

You appear to be correct. Lesson learned. Too late to capture the lightning, though. But I will certainly remember this. And I’ll send a very dark cloud of gloom over to the manufacturers of Canon, in my dreams.

Nice copper. At 1914 local, am looking at some serious activity moving north, directly my direction, after some rain from another direction killed the heat island. Hope I have something to post soonest. 🙂

Yes, rav, I like the more open-to-interpretation themes.

Damn. That means the kittah could be in. But then…what to leave out. This contest just gets harder and harder. 😯

I also like canopywebsml.jpg except that the benches blend into the shrubbery too much (it actually took me a few seconds to see them). If you could perhaps brighten the darks to make the benches stand out a little I could see replacing the third entry with this one.

Actually, the benches are as bright as I can get them without the picture taking on weird tones elsewhere (gamma issues). That was my concern with that picture, also. Thanks for the input!

Exploit the cat. I like the last one shown above, personally 😆

He’s sitting, but it’s not a bench, stool, etc. It’s just a branch. And a precarious one, at best. But it’s one of my favorite Blerticus shots. 😀

I’d never exploit my cat for a contest on seats, of course–but these were tempting to do so. All P&S:

I have a lot of what I consider to be good pics for this contest, though. Anyone care to help me decide which ones to use? I’m having a rough time of it.

They all pop bigger to new window.

Oh, and you BETTER be bringing the lightbucket, Rav! 😆

How DARE you Sir! Threaten ME with a good time!!

‘Shoot the ball! I have a whole bucket full!’

I have an aunt in Cortez, Colorado–it’s also purdy derned dark there; or even better, Dolores CO, if we can find a hotel to accomodate the ‘teeming dozens’ of us…

olavf While shooting for ‘have a seat’, A guy noticed me taking pics, then sat in the bench I was shooting. I just asked him if he’d mind, and he was fine with it, so long as I emailed him a copy. Don’t know if I’ll use the picture (didn’t like how it came out), but it doesn’t hurt to ask. I think the key may have been I was already shooting a scene and he was curious as to why.

You’re only about 6 hours from me, maybe next summer we can get a weekend shoot together if I manage to get all my gear scared up. I’ve got some mag6 skies less than an hour from the house here.

Heck, with the folks in Phoenix maybe getting interested we could all converge in Albuquerque and set up in the mountains out towards Taos somewhere. There is some seriously pristine sky out that way.

I’d be up for it; I’ll bring the scope (11 inches of light-bucket goodness, though only at f/6.7–but still–and I developed a piggy-back system for it. Now that I’m a permanent employee, I have vacation time so I can even get paid for it!
