ParticipantCongrats dude! Let us know how it goes.

Participant…where is that?…
Thanks for the kind words, that was taken in the (semi)public garden around the Walt Disney Concert Hall here in LA. If you’re ever in the neighborhood you should stop by and take one of their free tours, it’s an amazing place.

ParticipantAs I think about it more, I remember that as I was buying my XTI (~April ’07) there were many people complaining on some of the forums that their XTI would underexpose by 2/3 of a stop. It didn’t affect me as mine didn’t suffer from it – but it may be worth your while to google it.

ParticipantWell that sucks.
RcMacStudent
ParticipantYou don’t have any flash or exposure compensation turned on do you?
RcMacStudent
ParticipantI don’t know if it matters, but there aren’t any of the normal links in the boobies of the contest.

ParticipantI have seen that the “Pro” versions of the Manfrotto tripods have the ability for the column to slide horizontally. However, as I’ve never had one to try it on, I really can’t say if it matches the hype.

ParticipantI don’t know about setting up the lens mount, but if you use PVC pipe you’re going to want to line it with black paper or paint it it black (or something) because the white PVC lets a significant amount of light through the walls. Another possible solution would be to use black ABS drainpipe because it doesn’t transmit nearly as much light through the walls.

ParticipantVery cool, Thanks

ParticipantGood job everyone, amazing pictures all around.

ParticipantIn my Photo class (intro to B&W), it was recommended that we use Kodak T-Max, Tri-X or Ilford’s HP5+, FP4, or Delta Series.
I don’t know what you have in the way of supplies but Ilford makes a “Student Pack” that come with 2 rolls of their HP5+ (a solid 400 speed film) and a 25ct pack of 8×10 paper. This pack cost sonly $2 more than buying the paper alone.

ParticipantI’ve never heard of them before but a quick googling shows pages of happy reviews, if that’s worth anything.

ParticipantI have the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 and it’s an awesome lens. That f/2.8 definitely comes in handy.
Hey! That’s exactly what I was gonna say. 😀
It’s also pretty sweet on my Canon A2 (film) body where it actually ventures into wide angle territory.RcMacStudent
ParticipantThoey I’ll let you pick your battles, but I’d recommend considering the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. I’ve used mine for awhile now and I’ve found it to be a great all-purpose zoom.

ParticipantSo Miller, It’s been three weeks, how’s it going?
