ParticipantA decent bulb blower would probably be the best thing for this, there shouldn’t be any real risk of scratching. I have one of these:

It’s useful for getting dust and junk off all kinds of things (DSLR sensor, negatives for scanning, etc.)

ParticipantIf you’re looking for cheap film, I’ve had decent results with Arista EDU Ultra from Freestyle: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/e_main.php/

ParticipantThanks! (but I don’t post on any Canon forums, this was done with a D70)

ParticipantDamn. That’s dramatic. I last tried NeatImage about five years ago and it was nowhere near that good. Thanks!
It doesn’t work so well for everything, especially if there’s a lot of fine detail you don’t want to lose, but I’ve found it pretty useful.

ParticipantHere’s what NeatImage does with it (the default settings, no tweaking from me at all) I use it quite a bit for high-iso shots

ParticipantThere are some pretty decent free photo editors out there:
– Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com/) – This is more of a viewer than an editor, but it has some basic editing/resizing/conversion tools and is easy to use
– Gimp for Windows (http://www.gimp.org/windows/)- This is a more fully featured editor, probably the closest thing to photoshop you can get (legally) for free…

ParticipantI would have called the one on the right a tower. .. But thats just my opinion… Feel free to disagree

ParticipantFlickr does take care of resizing and giving you thumbnails and such, so it is quite convenient. The main problem is that the 500px image that flickr gives you is smaller than the max size that fark allows, but sometimes is over 200k so that fark rejects it based on file size. I use my personal host for the image that goes in the competition itself and then link to the flickr page.
When I want to post a 640px wide image for a contest where I don’t have it sized conveniently, I just upload the resized version to Flickr, mark it private, and post it to the contest with a link to the public image.

ParticipantI let Schmap use one of my images about 6 months ago. So far the view count on flickr is up to 19, so I’m not sure it’s much of a way to get exposure. I was in two minds about it to start with, and I’m not sure I’d let them use another.
I post all of my photos to Flickr under a CC Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs license (but I don’t generally upload full resolution images, so this only applies to the medium-resolution version). That seems like a pretty fair compromise between letting people use stuff and protecting my rights.

ParticipantThat HTML will work on Fark, but here you have to use the bbcode equivalent:
