Participantyou and I are the only ones awake so we get to decide what photo to use for the group. I’m thinking circus peanut JFK

ParticipantI have neither staples nor stitches. I have a vacuum.
And while I’m using my lovely vacuum friend, I can’t take showers except for just before the nurses come to change things around, about every three days. So I have to stand with one foot in the tub and one out and wash my hair and shit.
When I can take a full shower, the doc encourages me to put on a glove and soap up the site. I’m three weeks out now, so there’s no pain, but it is decidedly weird to be sticking your finger into your leg.

Participantis Sam StaplerMan you?
I’ll make a group, and link to it, so anybody can join and we can sort the names out that way.

ParticipantMy wound has a 3cm incision leading to a 9cm empty space. I asked the surgeon if she could heal it up like a pocket so I could keep my weed in there, but no dice.

ParticipantI have a vacuum pump that applies continuous suction to the open wound on my back, and have suction tubes running over my shoulder. I feel a bit like the Borg.
I happen to have been attached to one of those for the past three weeks, following a surprise surgery about a month ago for a strep infection gone crazy in my leg.
Glad you’re doing better, man.

ParticipantI honestly don’t care if anyone wants to photoshop one of my photos, but I would expect an email or something making sure I was cool with it. I know they’re used to pulling images from anywhere and using them, but we should definitely have been consulted.

ParticipantWow, glad to hear he’s getting better. Holy shit.

ParticipantI can sort photos on my website by date added, so just did that and picked ones I liked best.

Participanti’m afraid we committed arachnicide after i was done shooting it. can’t really be having black widows that close to the house.
I’d be more afraid that you can.
*goes off looking for wellingtons*
shake those out before you put them on. spiders love to hide in dark places.

ParticipantHonestly, I’m so used to people not putting poppy links up that I just right-click-open on any link out of habit.
Yeah. I know. I’m getting better. But it is not my default move yet.
Don’t feel bad. I’m sure there are things you do just fine.

Participanti’ll keep that in mind (that you consistently don’t pop, that is; i knew about my options lol). out of curiosity, why not? pure bloodyminded stubbornness?
nah, it’s just more that I can type the HTML for a linked image without thinking, but I haven’t incorporated the whole target= thing. yes, I know there are buttons to use, but I compose the whole thing in notepad first.
so more just being weird than stubborn, but I suppose it’s about a 60/40 mix.

ParticipantI don’t do the popped thing on my links, sorry. It’s a thing with me. You can always right-click on any link and choose “open in new tab or window” to have control over things.

ParticipantThanks.
And yes, I should have done a little more research before I posted this, including reading some of the other forum topics. I was getting frustrated because my wife was standing over me saying “Why isn’t it working? What did you do to it? You are the computer guy why can’t you make it work?” I have since had dinner, relaxed a bit and am researching data recovery.
oh, believe me, I’m not one of those “did you google?” people. I don’t have any direct experience, but have noticed a lot of people on photo.net especially, talking about this.
The linux idea is good as well. I’ve recovered entire hard drives that were completely unreadable in Windows by hooking them to a Linux computer.

Participantyeah, I would think a projection onto another object would be a shadow, even if you were looking at the shadow from underneath a translucent material.
For instance, if you project hand shadow animals onto a sheet in the middle of the room, it doesn’t matter which side of the sheet you view the images from, they’re still shadows.

Participantgoogle CF card recovery. There are a lot of options available out there. I’m not really familiar with any of them, but I have noticed a lot of discussions of the various ones on photo.net, so that might be another place to look.
