Vivitar 285HV .
Hey, how do you like that flash? I just ordered one today. does it do strobe, like where you could get multiple images on an open lens in a dark room with a person moving?

Participantdamn, I forgot all about my totem photos.

Participanti’m surpised I’m not up there. I have 187 entries in my farktography profile, and they’re all hosted on my web server, but they are broken up into two domains which essentially point to the same space, sacredartichoke.com and abandoned-alaska.com. I guess neither one of them brok 100 on their own.

Participantget the best epson perfection you can, then get some of the film holders that best fit your needs here: http://www.betterscanning.com/
The epson comes with film holders, but those at the link are far better and ease so much unneeded head-pounding.

ParticipantI thought it was good humor, corsec.
I nearly didn’t put my pictures up, because I don’t think they’re much to get excited about, even with the pinhole difficulty. I was kind of embarrassed to be in first place for a while, because I really didn’t think it deserved it.

Participantat f/64 I always get a weird shadow/glare in the middle of the shot, so I figured it was disfigured enough.

Participantmy last two were taken with a lens in a cap at f/64

the first one was taken with an f/250 or so pinhole cap.

Participantone of the things you really gain with a pinhole is everything from right next to the camera on out is in as much focus as everything else. I think the best shots are ones that emphasize that, almost to the point of hokey 3-D movie effects.
I don’t know if I’ll have anything for this contest or not.

Participantdammit, why isn’t Canon making bodies with all the really cool bells and whistles like Nikon?
I do think I’d switch right now if I had the money.

Participantorionid, what settings and lens did you use to get your astro-photo? is that stacked exposures? I’ve been trying to figure out how to get that sort of deep-sky exposure with no blurring of stars for the longest time. Awesome shot.

ParticipantI’ve got a ton that fit but I can’t enter them all.

ParticipantI like that second one a lot.

Participantyeah, with digital, you get far worse diffraction, and there’s really not a lot of ways to combat that.
you can try making a larger hole and put your camera on aperture priority to let it take an appropriate amount of light in.

ParticipantI was totally uninterested in this contest until a few days ago when, as others have related, I started going through the archive. Then I started to get into it. After seeing the initial entries tonight, I am very pleasantly surprised at how cool many of the entries are.
Also, if corsec67 ever gets sick or anything and needs a stand in photographer, I volunteer.
I wasn’t much into it, either, until I started going through my files. Here’s two that didn’t make it:

those kicked tripod ones were from last fall when I was hobbling around with a post-op knee in a full-leg cast on enough vicodin to bring down most folks. I’m surprised I didn’t fall into the lake, looking back on it now.

Participantmine are mostly kicked the tripod during long exposure in the dark shots.
except for one, which got screwed up as the frozen muskeg I was on started sinking into the non-frozen muck below, causing star trails to do some weird things.
