ParticipantYoyo, that is where I am going as an exhibitor and I have to set up our machines then tear down afterwards. So working the three day show turns into two weeks for me. I don’t know of any companies in NM that are hiring (or any really), but I can ask around. What are you looking for? Machine builder, sales/service, fabrication shop? If you need a ticket let me know. You can register up to November 9 for free here or let me know if you need a ticket. Are you going for the whole time?

ParticipantI’m about 20 minutes north of Ann Arbor in SE Michigan, right where there is some crazy guy shooting cars on the expressway now. There have been about 24 shooting so far.
The UP is wonderful but I only seem to get up there in the winter. From Houghton Lake you will probably come down to Flint then over 69 to cross in Port Huron/Sarnia then across 402 to 401. Do you ever visit 1000 Islands? If not try to squeeze that in your trip too. Will it be a summer trip for you? Flint is only about 40 minutes north of me so let me know if you will be in the area.bender16v
ParticipantThanks everybody. I’m looking forward to the trip but not so much time in the car. CISS, I’ll let you know if I’m heading that way. I won’t be leaving Las Vegas until the 16th or 17th.

ParticipantI swear I’m going to bitchslap the stupid out of the next relative who forwards me a Photoshopped image of a shark on the street or in a yard in New Jersey and insists that it’s real.
This one?

Participantennuipoet, two weekends ago I went to a shooting workshop outdoors and it was raining. A garbage bag with a hole in the end and rubber bands work surprisingly well.
I think clouddancer is up in Maine. Good luck East Coasters, we’re all counting on you.

ParticipantNot completely happy with my third entry but ran out of time. I found that feather on my walk this evening. I am really struggling with getting macros sharp even with cable release, mirror locked up, subject perpendicular, focusing 1/3 of the way in, etc.

ParticipantNail insertion is remarkably brutal from what I have heard from people who have observed the surgery. Most of my job is selling/fixing tube bending machines for automotive, furniture, etc. but one of my customers machines and bends these nails. It is surprising how twisted bones really are, especially in the legs. The nail is probably made from a custom titanium alloy for medial devices. They say the recovery time is very fast with these devices so I hope yours is too.

ParticipantFall color is in full swing here so every day I have been out in the woods or on the lake. I haven’t really come across anything for this one so I will probably have to dig. I have this one from last weekend with the theme in mind but then I saw that they must be man-made.

ParticipantHey Els,
Please to envotinate my first one, apparently being off for a couple of months made me stupid.
Thanks
Same for me, except I don’t have the excuse of time off. Thanks!

ParticipantI have some ideas but no time to do them. I’ll try to come up with three but it’s not looking promising even though I have been shooting for this one, just with poor results. I guess I just need to lighten up (Francis) and try. Too bad I haven’t seen any zebras here in Arkansas this week.

ParticipantNikon said to send it in and I’m expecting it to be covered under the warranty. From what I gather it takes a while for warranty repairs so I bought a D600 after work today. The D7000 will get sent off soon. I haven’t gotten to play with it much so far other than a couple of shots at 6400 ISO that are impressive and still usable. Here is a JPEG-Basic that is still 4.5MB SOOC hand-held at 1/25″. Hopefully I’ll take a walk in the morning and get some outdoor photos.
Edit: Here’s a bird from this morning at ISO 1400 without any noise reduction in post. There’s some noise showing up in the background but it’s not bad.bender16v
ParticipantI had a hell of a time deciding one these. I really wanted to use my #11, but decided to go with the bus since I found it funny. Some bees: #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10, #11, and #12 which isn’t really a pano but I like it. If I had more time I would have done more of them, I really love the results and seeing all the other awesome entries so far.
