So if I’m reading this right (and I hope I am) the next 4 (after the dragon one 7/1/09) are Shiny Shiny, Vice Vice, Industrial Arteries and Man’s Best Friend?

Looks like to lenses it is. I saw that Canon has a lot of lenses that seem to fit the Rebel XS. I haven’t looked at Nikon yet, but I will. Are they likely to carry that same line of lenses or not change the fittings, etc? The description said fits any EF or EF-S lens, would that likely be the case in a later model? I guess I’m asking if it’s stable. We probably won’t get it this year (too strapped for cash), but I do plan on stashing some money away to buy one. I’ve promised some proof of my stick-to-it-iveness for hubby in working with what we have to prove that I will do right by it and it won’t be a short lived hobby. Being that we’ll have to save for this, I think that’s only fair. He says that Canon is overall a higher quality brand (can anyone provide examples or reviews to say so?).

I will check out the Nikon brand though and see how that compares.

Looks like it’s saving up for the Canon Rebel XS. That happens (also) to be the camera that hubby picked. Since I’m picky or want my options, I’ll make sure to have enough for an extra lens or 2 and at least a decent camera bag for this as well. There’s a great deal on Newegg for it, but we have zero money for it, and no credit cards so that’s out. Guess I should not have gone looking. Seems like Canon also has a big variety of lenses that this camera could take too, which is also another great feature. It means I’ll have some variety for learning.

Who knows, maybe if I put it on my Christmas list and ask extra nice and behave well, Santa will bring it to me (yeah right).

I wasn’t too into the idea of the books either, but the series does have dragons. Hence my thought on it.

TBH, after I gave up the thought for a couple of hours, it popped into my head that I’m likely thinking too big and with too much detail. Maybe I was trying to use the blocks that are too big and I’m going to scale down and instead of making 1 bigger dragon, I’ll try some smaller ones and see how they turn out.

I’ve also had the thought of making one out of tin foil and spray painting it or making a stuffed dragon, but either one of those would likely take longer than the legos. Once their made the fun part will be taking the pictures anyway. I realized that probably in asking I was making one of those n00b-ish mistakes, sort of like asking for the secret recipe. Time to get my dork on and go have more fun with my legos (I found my lego horse last night). Maybe I’ll get my 3-year-old in on it with his legos too.

Well, so far building a dragon out of legos isn’t as easy as I thought. I think I might just stick with the letter blocks. I’ve even tried a profile view, just building it 1 dimension to cast a shadow or something, but no such luck. How are you guys finding dragons to photograph?

Would a picture of books with dragons be okay or is that just taking a picture of a picture?

I broke my Farktography cherry! Hehe, had to share. Awesome photos everyone! I voted before I posted. It’s been a while since I’ve written the actual html for links and stuff, I had to go look it up. I’ll be better next time.

I didn’t know Pangolyn, but I do like dragons. I also don’t want to do anything to dishonor her or anything, which is why I’m going to ask my question. We don’t have any dragons in the house, but I have a couple of ideas. My first idea was with my son’s blocks. He has letter blocks and I was thinking of spelling out dragon or something like that. Maybe one has a dragon on it, I would not know as I have not looked at them in a while. Secondly, I do have Legos and was thinking about trying to build a Lego dragon, but I’m really not sure how well that would turn out, though I do have an budding engineer in the house who could possibly help. It’d likely be a white dragon as those are what I have most of.

I know this one is about paying tribute and if my ideas would not do so, then I won’t, but they’re all I have right now so I thought I’d ask before I just did.

Edited to add: Also, would a dragonfly count? We have a mechanical flying dragonfly that I think would be cool, but if that’s too much of a stretch I’d understand too.

I knew there was a size limit, but I wasn’t sure exactly what it was, so thank you, NoBigDeal, for saying what it was. I checked my small versions and they’re all under that mark, so they should post just fine.

To be on the safe side, I’m trying out Photobucket Pro for 3 months (short on cash for now) to make sure I have the bandwidth available. I’ll be up tonight anyway after midnight, so I’ll post away when I get the chance. I look forward to seeing everyone’s and voting appropriately.

I should really get back to work now. The problem with working from home is that some days everything’s a distraction and I’m all kinds of distracted today. Luckily, I have a flexible schedule. 😀

Woohoo, my own portfolio. How cool is that? I redid some shots of the firepit. I also found a troll doll I forgot I had, so I took some pictures of that. It’s ugly as hell, but it’s cute too. Apparently the thread isn’t live yet, so I’ll wait until it is to post. Gives me a bit more time to be okay with my choices anyway.

    So. Here’s the firepit:

    And the troll:

I cropped ring 1 and will put that one in too. I’ll also have Photobucket scale them down and make sure a link is available to the larger version. You guys (and girls) are awesome. Another round for everyone! Hell, make it 2!

Hi again. Thank you for the warm welcome! These are my possibilities so far. I’ve been told to redo the firepit one tomorrow from a different angle and thus take out the yellow hose in the background and the corner of the car. I think that one would lend itself to some nice shopping. Otherwise, I think I’ll just link them as normal otherwise. You might have to copy and paste. It’ll take me a bit to figure out how this forum works, so please bear with me. Each one seems to have its quirks.

These haven’t been touched at all so they’re full size and everything. Thanks for the encouragement! This does seem like the best contest to start with. [/url]

    Welcome aboard.
Let the photoshoppers worry about what’s photoshoppable. That’s their problem.
I WANNA SEE YOUR BOOBIES TOMORROW!
(and your 2nd and 3rd posts too)

LOL! I actually don’t think I have a picture of my boobies, but that would require someone else taking them (albeit on my camera) so I’m not sure it would qualify. Hehe.. That just happened to work out perfectly. I’ll be chuckling about that for a while.

I have a “hanging garden” that I took today, though it’s not all that great, and my hubby and his friend did a firepit in the driveway with cement blocks that I got, but the angle on that one might be weird. I have not edited them at all. I usually run the pictures by my hubby because he’s the one that will crop and brightness/contrast them for me (he told me he wanted to). I’ll upload them tonight and then you can tell me what you think.

Another round for everyone! Just ’cause it’s good to drink, though I’ve no idea what’s being served.
