Faves include boobs vs moobs, the kid giving the double bird, and of course the cover.[/quote]The Boobs vs Moobs is a favorite of mine, the juxtaposition of those two people are awesome 😀

ParticipantCrap, I grabbed the wrong link from my Big Pile o’ Bookmarks! Thanks!

ParticipantThat is truly excellent and congrats, I know how cool it is when someone uses your work in a larger context! As caradoc said Copyright is established upon creation of a work, while you can file your Copyright with the appropriate government agencies as additional protection, you do not need to do anything special.
As just a word of advice to anyone and everyone, when someone asks to use your work whether it’s a friend and you do it for free or someone wants to pay you for it, always write up a release detailing the exact right you are will to give away regarding this image and this person. Here is a template you can use http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/photographer-s-image-use-release-form-TC006087055.aspx simply customize the information and sign it, send it along with the image. It protects everyone involved.
For example, this is a small record label but what if this album were picked up by a larger label for wider distribution? The big label should renegotiate the rights use to the cover art with you and if you had a release over this image and they don’t they would owe you rather a lot of money. Having a specific release for any image used like this insures everyone is protected.

ParticipantThe MPs were probably thinking to themselves, “I got pulled off my lunch break for this?”
I was actually fishing when it happened to me 😀 I was stationed at Beale AFB CA which is basically one huge wilderness preserve, so I would spend slow Sundays fishing in a little river than ran through the base, I never caught much but I spent many a pleasant day doing it. Plus, as a dog handler my job was to be off in the boonies looking for bad guys, so no one thought a thing about my being in back of nowhere for hours on end.
I hated being IN the military, I loved being in the military, if that makes sense. In these days of terrorism, the quite peaceful life of post Cold War soldiering is long lost and much missed.

ParticipantThey said that photography was prohibited on post, which I didn’t know. Then they sent me on my way, and I headed down town for photos of the Bassett Tower and Globe Mills. In conclusion, don’t take pictures on Fort Bliss and watch out for E8s with flat tops.
Was that clearly posted on the gate entering the Base? Unless the law has changed since 1997 (it may have) photography on a military installation was only restricted in controlled and restricted areas clearly marked as such. Otherwise, the DoD must follow Federal law allowing photography in all public spaces unless clearly marked at the boundaries or upon entering the Installation.
I was on the other side of this as a Air Force Cop back in the 90’s, when a dependent family member was stopped by a security patrol a mile or so away from a restricted radar site. The photographer was not taking photos of the site, just in the vicinity and she stood up for her rights. I took her side and started a fight up the Judge Advocate General’s office at 6 PM on a Sunday evening. My Shift Commander was highly pissed not only because I dared to quote the law (which I knew better because I was an actual cop, not a solider pretending to be a cop) and for being RIGHT about it. He was way more pissed that I was right than anything else.
I refuse to obey someone I know to be wrong, I had a LOT of fun in the military, hard to imagine why I separated.

ParticipantIt’s amazing what can happen when you ask for it 😀
Ok! I want a Leica M9.
Leica’s for you, and a Leica for you, and a Leica for you!

ParticipantDoes anyone else have the strangest desire to photograph Ivory liquid squeezed on a brick gutter? Or am I just listening to too much Tull?

ParticipantAnd it appears you’re credited across the board now.

ParticipantHere’s the follow up. I just completed the paperwork and received payment for my photo from Villafane Studios. (http://villafanestudios.com/) My shot will now appear on TShirts and posters for sale from the site and at promotional events around the country. The artists had taken pics of his creation but he loved the composition and post processing of mine enough to shell out a not insignificant amount of money, not new camera money but still very good returns. I will link the site again when he has the TShirts up for sale, which tickles me to think kids around the country sporting my photo on their pumpkin zombie shirts. 🙂
The lesson from this, if you want it, is your photos are worth money. Keep an eye out for them popping up on the Internets, talk to the people nicely, which I did, and profit!
Also, my Holiday cards are up on Red Bubble if you are looking for a cheap, cheesy Christmas card! 😛

ParticipantI offered a lowball price for limited rights and the artist came back with ten times that much for full rights…today has been a good day. It’s nice to work with pros! 😀

ParticipantI promptly heard back from the artist who did the sculpture. He not only will credit the shot, but wished to buy a high res copy.
Now that turned out nicely. I am going to sell the copy on the cheap, because the guy DID make the art.

ParticipantUpdate: Apparently the website took the photos from the Pumpkin sculptures website, and THEY used my photo without attribution or permission.

I just wrote them sculpture asking for a link back to my site. I always feel a little weird photographing another artists work, but in the case I clearly feel entitled to credit for the photo. The composition, the post processing all contribute to a certain feel in the photograph making a unique work not simply a snapshot of the original. At least that is my interpretation.
Thoughts?

ParticipantEnnuipoet and CISS wound up in a three-way with Elsinore last night? If that doesn’t put a big smile on those guys faces, I don’t know what will 😆
I’ll be in my bunk…

ParticipantSome of these are like Rorschach ink blots….sex and monsters everywhere!
I saw boobies before I even read the caption on your stair shot. 😯
I saw Elsinore‘s shot an immediately thought, Wow, I really just want to go up and down those stairs over and over again.
