ParticipantWould a grumpy old man driving a 100 year old ford in a small town parade with his dog count as a street performer?
http://www.flickr.com/photos/45778684@N00/4368397014/I, too, have any number of shots of people participating in parades who are not street performers by profession but are performing on the street. If they are not actively engaged in their performance, like thus:

[/url]do they still qualify as street performers?
I probably won’t use any “parade” shots, but the more you know…

ParticipantI’m really glad you guys settled the light painting question…cuz I was coming in to ask the very same thing!

ParticipantAny way to do this without photoshop?
I can get my hands on it though if I need to.
For those without photoshop, most of the HDR programs have a free trial period. Photomatix outputs the work with a watermark that is not terribly distracting. The software isn’t cheap, but the open source versions are really difficult to work with. I tried doing HDR in the GIMP for a while. It hurt. In the end, managed to get my hands on Photomatix, (and yes that is a euphemism) and found life much simpler.

Participantsleeping why do you have a mini-flashlight and any kind of camera in bed at all?
😉Well, wouldn’t that depend on the KIND of photos your taking?
Wink wink, nudge, nudge, say no more
You know, “holiday snaps”

ParticipantB-Sides. My housemates thought I was a little insane, walking through the house with a pitcher of color water over and over again while shooting. 🙂 I am actually going to revisit this idea with some better glassware, better lights and a broader selection of colors…and perhaps some mind altering substances. I wish to reiterate my position, I still don’t like abstract art!

ParticipantI hated this idea, wasn’t going to even enter. I’m to wrapped in the concrete mindset, “light, composition, reality” of photography. Then I started playing, trying to come up with anything to shoot. I didn’t break any new ground, but I did discover an unexpected joy in thinking…differently…nice idea olavf

I would like to say something profound, but I can’t get my jaw off the floor.

ParticipantCan I just say how frustrating this week’s theme is! Not because I don’t have in anything, but what I have is almost universally HDR! I’m not an HDR nut, but I’ve really taken to the potential of HDR in these kinds of lights:

So, now I am sifting source images to find the right exposures for submitting.

ParticipantI think the main idea is FUBAR. Whether in process, or post-process doesn’t matter so much.
This pleases me greatly, not that I created “art” but lighting it on fire and photographing pleased me on pre-pubescent level as it should all men.

ParticipantI’ve a question: Can we include things in the PROCESS of being destroyed or only the destruction once completed? I ask because I’ve just destroyed something and shot the entire process and coolest parts are, well, when the thing is being destroyed leaving only charred rubble behind.

Participantwhy was it latter in life we learn all the really cool people were in band?
Because most of us were to busy thinking that all the cool people were in A band.

ParticipantO’Hai Farktographers! As a a Photoshoppers and Newbian Farktographer, I just wanted to pop in and give the quickest easiest method for color popping your pics. This works in any image editor supporting layers.
Step 1: Open your original image
Step 2: Duplicate that Layer
Step 3: Desaturate the duplicate layer.
Step 4: Erase from the duplicated layer (I use layer masking but the erase tool works just as well) revealing the color layer beneath. Using the finer brushes of the eraser/paintbrush you can reveal as much or as a little of an area as you wish.
Step 5: ?
Step 6: Profit/For many of you, this is old information, but I wanted to post it for anyone who doesn’t waste endless hours photoshopping The Paint Huffer into other people’s photos.

ParticipantI personally promise NOT to Hufferize anyone’s photographs!* I will leave that for Tillman
Thanks for the brave offering, and yes I will also surrender my own photos to the thread in the interest of fairness.
*Unless you are wearing a blue t-shirt.
