ParticipantI’m locked & loaded on this one and not ready at all for Rust. What ever you decide though is fine ZE.

ParticipantAh, I’d need to recrop it, fluffy!! The full phase is obviously not to scale (easy enough to fix.) I keep meaning to get with Jeff Craw and B.J. Hollander about setting up my flickr account for Getty stock images. over the past two years, I’ve gotten some good shots that might appeal to someone, somewhere.
Here’s one more; this is a crop pentych; sunspot 1484 as she’s swallowed by the moon’s shadow.

I used a minor sunspot for alignment between images. Kinda doesn’t look that way, but in the grid, it is indeed aligned.
If it were me, I’d keep it as is. I like the center image slightly larger, FWIW.

ParticipantI really like “Pedro-is-Ready-May17.jpg”, certainly atypical sports photography.
/Sucker for the atypical

ParticipantHey Rav,
Thanks for the compliment.
The diffraction spikes are interesting but the triplet (triptych?) is more visually appealing to me.
Should be framed and hanging in an office or store, freakin’ awesome.
Two completely different classes of image, both great./While the black background of the triplet might suggest velvet as a print media, DO NOT.

ParticipantThanks chupa and cuda. I’ve done a couple landscapes like that wide shot, expose for the sky. The foreground is heavily underexposed and then dodged in post.
I’ve never used one for farktography as they seem a little to over processed for that, but yes it is a cool effect. That was from my 10-20mm f4/5.6,
one of my favorite lenses.fluffybunny
ParticipantHow I thought the eclipse was going to work out, lots of inconvenient clouds:

How it really worked out (got lucky, mostly due to Mrs. FluffyBunny):

Mostly SOOC, some non-farktography safe edits (removed a telephone pole). Colors, exposure most everything else as found.

ParticipantZE – I have ideas. I have less time than I want. I can’t make my ideas work with CD size pics. I don’t want to Kinkos to print a 12.4 inch photo. I would like to print the left and right sides of an album cover at 11.5 inches (29.2 cm) and glue them to cardboard. I think this fits the spirit of the theme (and farktography) but I don’t want to ass-u-me anything.
Can I get a ruling? Any others want to chime in?
That’s the way I went so I hope it’s all good. All my music is digital. Finished the second and third yesterday evening.

Participantanyone else care to share their plans?
I’m planning on going to my local favorite sunset spot just down the street (I used it for desolation), I bought a range of shaded welding glass (4″x5″), and taking every piece of glass I’ve got. Don’t have a solar filter for my C8 or I’d take it too. I’ll probably start with the 150-500/5.6 Tokina, maybe the 100-300/4 Sigma, maybe a 1.4x in there somewhere and beyond that I’ll see what happens, not taking it too seriously.

ParticipantDamn did someone fart in the thread this week, where are the voters?
I was wondering the same thing. Wasn’t me, I swear. Though it seems two of my entries are real stinkers, at least according to what voting there has been.
there seem to be lots of ties this week. just clumps of votes, like 6th has ten folks in it. my best has 6, number two has 3 and the third only has two. and there are two folks i know who vote for me pretty regularly.
now i didn’t expect to win but i sure thought my entries would do better than they have by now.
Yeah I know, yet another bitch about no voters thread derail, but,…
I was thinking (always thinking) yesterday about the various people I interact with during the process of shooting for a contest. I direct them to the Fark thread if they want to see the product. I realized that the thread does not tell new viewers how to vote. Maybe if we add to the already largish instructions something like “If it’s your first time here and you would like to vote, all you have to do is create a user account on Fark (link goes here). The minimum they ask for an is an email and they don’t use it to send newsletters, sell it to spammers or bother you unless you want them to.”
Just a thought.

ParticipantIf Kes is listening this morning, the deleted image that Elsinore attributed to me was one of the OBOs I did for you.

ParticipantMan you covered a lot of territory. Strange to see all the sights I am used to posted on the internets. Did you eat at Hammond’s when you were in Glen Rose? There or Hard Eight in Stephenville are my two favorite local BBQ places. Had I known you were coming down my way I would have tried to meet for a beer, maybe next time.
There are several cycle routes around Glen Rose, only a few of which have I ridden thus far. Most have some “nice hills” as a friend of mine puts it.
Looking forwards to more photos when you get to them.

ParticipantIt doesn’t break any rules that I know of, but I am certainly not the final word.

ParticipantKes, I’ll cover for you tonight. My connection’s not that great but it beats midnight.

ParticipantI’ve got to decide between 2 Obsoletes

Advice?
I’ve got Shoe(s) and Floriduh and these 2. I didn’t really want to have 2 from the same category, so now I’m torn.
(The “s” is in parentheses because there’s only 1 shoe in the picture)Thanx!
I like the composition of the Jeep better but I think the pump is probably more “obsolete”.

ParticipantI suppose I am a generalist in that I will photograph anything. The aspect of our avocation I enjoy the most is capturing the fleeting and ethereal in the crucible of a frame,.. the look on a face, the animal before it runs off, the juxtaposition of things that cannot be scripted. I appear (hard to be objective with this) to be a better photographer when I can take my time, think things through, experiment and play with my subject,.. this is in direct conflict with statement number one. Like many of you, I prefer the out of doors and small groups of people.
I like ice cream.
