ParticipantThe acquisition isn’t merely about instagram. Its about now having their software engineers and knocking outs minor social networking rival in the face of their IPO. Also, perhaps trying to lure the vibrant photo community from G+ since FB changed their photo viewer and photo sharing to be exactly like G+’s (ironic since the photo community hated the G+ viewer when it was new).

ParticipantAre “trees” in as wood?
Kestrana
ParticipantDead leaves was really not what I was going for here, but I guess it technically fits the letter of the law. “Inanimate” was intended to rule out animals and people although it’s fine if they are in the picture with other watercraft. No tentacles please!
Kestrana
ParticipantSeaplanes are fine. It doesn’t have to be in water currently as long as that wad clearly it’s purpose.

ParticipantI’ll also need an OBO please:

Hopscotch
Shot with a Kodak Instamatic converted to use 35mm film: the "Necromatic"
Winter Night
Shot with a 1915 Kodak Rainbow Hawkeye Box camera: the "Brick"
Sewer
Shot with a Holga, the "Farkholga". Subject matter befits the medium used to capture it.
(or as my husband would say, holgas are shiat so I used one to take a picture of the shiattube)Kestrana

ParticipantIt’s amazing how bloody accurate that thing is for pretty much any forum surrounding an activity that requires some sort of equipment.
(OK yes, we mess around about Canons and Nikons, but that is only because down in their coal black little hearts the Nikonians KNOW that Canon is better. 😛 )
Hahaha! What an April Fools Joker you are! Canon better than Nikon. Pshaw!
Kestrana
ParticipantReally, quite amazing.

ParticipantThe only problem in charging professionals is who decides if you are a professional.
I think in this case that’s pretty clearly spelled out. If you are being paid to take pictures on their property they want a cut.

ParticipantI don’t see any problem with them charging a fee for people who are professionals to use their property. It’s easier than getting location releases from photographers every time they do something, and discourages those pros who might charge their client $100/hr but only donate $1 to the garden. When we were at the botanical gardens in DC the other day, everyone there seemed to have a am/pro camera and you had to wait your turn to photograph the most popular flowers. As a hobbyist just “snapping” I got some dirty looks from other “more pro” shooters who felt I was hogging their subject. If they’re there for a client job it would have been nice to distinguish from the other people so I could just stay away from them and not mutually annoy one another.

ParticipantI think for contests with a lot of participation it would be more interesting than those with low participation.

ParticipantWe’re actually going to have an open thread on Fark to make suggestions for the list.

ParticipantSo sorry to hear that Elsinore. I agree some general archive friendly stuff is good right now. Any word on when voting may be changed?
