ParticipantI use Adobe Photoshop Elements but I want to upgrade to Lightroom. I have the beta version (which I can make work but it screws up other things on my computer to do so) and it’s awesome. If you know anyone who is a college student, some big campus bookstores carry a discounted version of Adobe Photoshop but you need a student ID to purchase it. David got his copy when he was at Penn State.
For HDR, I use Photomatix.

ParticipantCheck out the churches you just photographed. Many English churches have people buried in the floor and walls…

ParticipantYeah I can OBO

ParticipantThat last one is actually my favorite.

ParticipantYeah I really like that image too. I’ve been wanting to shoot through water on a larger scale too since I saw them do it on last season of ANTM.

ParticipantOne of the things we talked about in the last rules revision for Themes was the 2 year waiting period between repeats of Classic themes. We could elect to make Software Hootenanny a once a year event, or once every 18 month event. Stitching 2 is in the hopper as mentioned. HDR was done not too long ago, so if this gets enough votes, under the current rules we would have to wait until that date to schedule it again.
The last hdr was in april 2010 and with 32 contests already in the hopper theres plenty of stuff waiting to get scheduled before hdr, so it shouldn’t be hard for this to happen 2 years after the last one.
Yeah I’m not worried that it would come up any time soon, but since some people expressed an interest in the theme only if it was some ways off, I figured I would point out that it would be.

ParticipantI’ll also point out that this HDR (2nd place last HDR contest) was taken in the winter, so I don’t think it should be a seasonal contest:

ParticipantI wish Nikon had an equivalent to that lens. Everything I see out of it is amazing.

ParticipantWhere as I was thinking it was okay, for example I have a picture of the inside of a circular room. You can’t see the whole circle of course but it’s clearly round – which is how I feel on Uranus’ pic.
aspidites’ zebra, while humorous, does imo violate the “no moon” clause tho 😉

ParticipantI just noticed Kestrana’s comment, you a nuke too?
Alas no, I am orionid‘s other half. But since he loves to talk shop, I probably know more about nuclear reactors and panel operation than your average coner.
And also welcome to the forum as well, hope to see more of you around. Let us know if you have any questions.

ParticipantWell fortunately this is the last week on shift (for now) although it’s not clear when the NRC will allow them to restart the reactors.

ParticipantThe sun is round and not the moon, so I don’t see why not.
