ParticipantYeah that’s what made me think of it too. If there’s a way for a scraper to pick up the tags when the themes go live, we could probably add tag text to the boobies for future contests. Then we would just have to tag past contests.

ParticipantKestrana, May I ask what settings you used for your “hiking light” photo? I really like it. I was hiking Monday and tried to capture a similar shot but was unsuccessful. I’m guessing it has something to do with exposure compensation but I don’t know how that works yet.
Missed this earlier, sorry

Most of it was just good timing being late afternoon in a damp, steamy forest. My exif data says 2:32 pm and it’s set on Pacific time, so it was 5:32. Camera settings aren’t anything too special, 640 iso (due to the dark forest), f/3.5 @1/8. The slightly longer exposure makes the light halo a bit more. In Photoshop Elements I used curves to increase contrast and highlights, then moved the green scale a little bit darker so that the blown out leaves in the background where the sun was shining didn’t look so obtrusive.

ParticipantSounds good to me

ParticipantIt’s the same picture but it might a different frame. If you look at the plant in the bottom right corner, there is a leaf at the corner that you can see in this week’s contest and it’s not in the artsy fartsy shot; the whole vertical of the picture is longer. Of course that could be from re-cropping the original.

ParticipantWe’ll definitely want a clarification on clouds, because I would say yes.

ParticipantSince Monday was Labor Day in the US last week, it could be that there are people on vacation this week which lowers the total votes we get. Maybe Summer as a season doesn’t speak to viewers like other seasons either, I think it’s harder to define summer in a photo than the other seasons.

Participantpics or it didn’t happen 😉

ParticipantThose would both be fine, they fit the spirit of the contest

ParticipantMy internet is being anemic tonight. Probably all those birthday wishes on orionid‘s fbook clogging the tubes 😉
In other news, I love mint-e‘s sunset shipsKestrana
ParticipantAstronomically speaking, summer is June 21 to September 21, but culturally Memorial Day to Labor Day is traditionally summer. For the purposes of this contest, anything shot from Memorial Day to now is fine, or if you’re in the southern hemisphere, December through March.

ParticipantHah! Your remarkable wildlife photos of course – competition! All in good fun though, hopefully we can learn from some of what you’ve been shooting.
Kestrana
ParticipantYes that’s fine
